Tolbert hints at player dissatisfaction?

I mean y'all can say what you want about his performance this year and I do agree but I would say that he is considered a core personality and a very possible speaker box for the players opinions on the state of affairs in the FO and with coaching, and to me this definitely sounds like there's some issues.

Of course I could be completely wrong.

This.

Tolbert has slipped as a player on the field. No doubt about it. The guy is done as a player. But, in that locker room? He's probably still pretty damn well established.

Heck, guys still loved Jake Delhomme in the locker room even after he clearly didn't have it anymore.

Sometimes you just have to let popular guys go.

That has zero impact in terms of a player's status in a locker room. Or in a fan's heart for that matter.

That guy who used to "have it" still carries weight in that locker room and to fans and there's a reason for it. That guy has been a top performing NFL player. He knows what's up. He may not have it in terms of on-field performance anymore, but the guy has been around long enough and seen enough and done enough to have an opinion that's worth hearing.

    • Even if he beats the odds, returns midseason  and plays like he did last year it won’t warrant a big contract extension.
    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
