Panthers will pick 8th

I think the Panthers win tomorrow.  I also previously attached a scenario which the Panthers win the last two and still pick 11-involved are everything from likely scenarios such as Buffalo winning out as they're favored to do, to the Bears beating the Redskins which increases the Bucs SOS over us just enough if we both finish 8-8.

I truthfully believe the best of all scenarios is winning tomorrow and losing the last game-the Falcons miss the playoffs, and we still get our top 10, maybe even top 8, pick.  Philly over a Cowboys team that's clinched and San Diego over the Browns then Chiefs in the last game ever in San Diego are very possible.

Bradberry and Worley are playing well and improving. But, if we are picking in the mid 11-18 a cornerback could possibly be the pick. We still need a nickel badly.

Cam Robinson is questionable both on and off the field but he's another option.

Barnett, Cook, Ramczyk, Ross and Davis are the other options depending on their stock now till combine.

Barnett is so insanely above those others from a position premium and talent/value perspective it's not even funny.

Ramczyk is at least mildly intriguing based on the obvious need at OT and Wisconsin's ability to produce them.  But he's likely going to have hip surgery and miss the combine.  That, combined with limited reps against top competition and the need to add more strength, and he hardly sounds like a 1st rounder to me, as much as even I'd like to warm up to the idea.

Ramczyk has not declared yet and will have surgery right after their bowl game or the combine, if he declares, which will keep him sidelined for a minimum of 4 months.

Think he will be a second rounder

That's why I said Corner could be the pick. Teez, Sidney, Quincy, Lattimore, Humphrey, King, etc. are all very intriguing prospects.

We are back up to 9th at the moment and pulling hard for Cincy, who, with a win, will put us at 8th

Then there is one week to go

Cincy should win against a scrub no name backup QB.  The Chargers should win in the last game ever in San Diego after the embarrassment today.  #7.  Fingers crossed.

Any word on whether Mike McGlinchey has decided if he's going to return to Notre Dame? I know Charlie Campbell from Walterfootball.com said in his recent mock that his sources at N.D. expect McGlinchey to go pro. If he does, he'd be a great pick for us, IMO. He's got legitimate franchise left tackle potential.

My only concern is that, if he does declare, he could shoot up draft boards and be gone before we pick.

Everything I saw in Oct and November said he was coming back to school.  Maybe insiders know better.

Is he a bit smallish?

The fact that he's even so wishy washy about coming out after so many years in the program, struggled so much after switching from RT, and struggled so much with penalties as he is supposedly a high strung personality, are all major red flags as a first rounder.  Zero chance he's our top 10 pick.  Maybe if we trade back multiple times and/or use our 2nd round pick.  But if THAT'S GMan's answer to our OT problem then everyone better show up at BOA demanding Berry AND JPP.  I'd honestly feel MUCH better with Remmers out of the gate until he'd be ready, a scenario that I hate since we must come out guns blazing next year.

Seemed like the Bengals and Chargers were playing for their pick with 3 missed FGs to win or tie/win. I'd like to say we were as well, but I think we just played like crap.

Irks me even more since Barnett is so often mocked to the Bengals.

Truthfully, a great case can be made, right now, that we will pick 9 regardless of whether we win or lose next week when you look at the slate of games.

    • Needs to be a run heavy game. They have allowed 121+ on the ground in the last 3 games including 180 to Tampa yesterday. If they do the whole crowd the box deal like they did against us, push the ball downfield. If we can do it to the Rams and Falcons we can do it to them.
    • Rushing attempts PG are actually the 5th lowest since 1990.
    • team are playing lots of 2 high shell trying to take away the big plays.  But I mean, defenses being scared of QB play.....aids the run game.  I mean, don't pay the QB and have the threat....the safeties aren't going to be fixated on taking away the deep pass and can play the run and cheat on pass attempts.  I think what you are seeing is the most elite QBs are flat out being game planned for to take away the big play.  But if you aren't an elite QB and vertical threat QB.....defenses flat out aren't going to make that league wide shift on your offense.  Take a Bryce.  I would imagine most of his INTs are made by opposing safties over the course of his career (who aren't taking away the vertical but cheating to make plays on the intermediate balls)
