2017 Panthers Mock Draft (Rounds 1-3) - Panthers Wait Until Second Round For A RB

I'm hoping Gettleman goes back to his philosophy. Fill immediate needs in free agency to set up BPA in the draft. This year, that'd mean OT and DE in free agency as well as a veteran CB and S. He has way more money to accomplish this than he did in previous years. This doesn't mean big splash signings (though he could make one if he wanted) but just more flexibility. The ability to go into the draft with the #8 pick and with no immediate needs would be so beneficial. We would be able to chose from 4-5 guys that can make an impact year one.

I fully expect us to get some sort of LT. That's no question. Whether it's depth or potential we're getting someone.

I also see him trying for a DE possibly. If he gets a S or DE that'd be ideal for the draft. If he fixes up both, call me on the Fournette bandwagon.

Hopefully some moves will be made.

Thanks for this.  I haven't even started thinking about / looking at draft prospects yet.  Probably won't until March..., want to see what we do in FA first.  But these are names I'll keep in mind.  Nice write up and you make a good case.

Another guy I like better than Adams is Malik Hooker. This could be a tough choice for us if Hooker comes out and both are available. Adams is a SS while Hooker is a FS, so not exactly the same position. I look at it like a choice between Earl Thomas or Kam Chancellor.

I honestly think Hooker is the best FS prospect in quite a while, better than Ramsey last year, IMO.

That may end up being why Adams is around at # 8. Adams is also a better fit for us because Coleman is a much better FS than SS.

    • I’m old enough to remember when I wanted to draft Njoku We brought back Mitchell and officially kept Tremble. Mitchell Evans isn’t going anywhere. Sanders who knows, he was awful last year I fully agree we need a better TE. This room is awful Njoku would be a massive help in the red zone. However it really seems like Dan and the FO prefer to go young on offense
    • You’re underselling Loveland imo. He’s so damn good. You can line him out wide and count on him to win 1 v 1. I don’t see that from Sadiq. Loveland is going to go over 1000 yards next season I’m not overly asking for a WR3. It’s just one of the few directions Morgan could go in round 1.  Let’s say Thieneman, Fano and Cooper are all on the board it’s a tough decision. I just don’t see how this team would take Sadiq over some of those guys given the way they run their offense. Our tight end room is easily bottom of the league so I can definitely see why someone would want a tight end though. At one point during the season I was on the Sadiq train as well. I just don’t think value wise for us specifically it makes sense given our team as a whole As far as tight ends go in this draft I really like Max Klare. Very smooth mover
    • Some of you need some serious help with the way 9 lives rent free in your heads I know for a fact, Dan loves Bryce. Bryce is his guy. This offense is very young and they’re asking Bryce to do a lot. With Idzik taking over playcalling duties it’s a move that is another step in the process of Bryce taking control of the offense. 24 years old. This youth movement on offense and putting more on 9’s shoulders is going to pay off in the long run
