All of this Lebron talk has me wondering

If he was still taking criticism losing with the Cavs before all these moves to get playmakers involved in Miami and Cleveland the second go around then I'd 100% agree with you. Unjustified bashing by the media. But when you already have a solid crew and can't get it done and say it's because you "need some help," some people are going to raise eyebrows.

I disagree, from Lebron's standpoint I understand fully, he's not asking for another all star but another playmaker. He understands he's getting older kinda like cam understands that too, and is working on beating teams from inside the pocket because doing it with his legs won't last. Only gripe I have is going to the media, they may have the highest paid roster but still don't stack up to Gs, just watch a cavs game, hell even in the finals that team looks lost as soon as lebron hits the bench. Let's be real cavs are going to the finals, that's not the problem, problem is do they have enough to beat gs, it took nba history being altered for them to win last year and gs added a top 5 player in Durant. He does need help, you shouldn't expect lebron to lead every major category 3 times in the finals with him growing with age, I think that's the main point lebron is trying to make

I figured. Lebron is polarizing for sure, more so with the fans. I don't see the media going after him too much, at least not relatively to some athletes.

I'm sure they will just because it's him and it'll soon be a "big story" for no apparent reason. "Fans" sometimes make me sick lol.

That's the point I'm trying to make, big fella. 5 guys on the court with a "Big 3" and complaining about not getting the job done VS 11 men on the field and shouldering the blame of the teams shortcomings. LJ has been given everything he's asked for to succeed and has multiple championships. Go handle your business and take responsibility if you can't get it done.

Of all the finals lebron has lost, I have yet to see him do nothing but shoulder blame and he's been doing it longer then cam, regardless, if cam were to call wr's or players out like Big Ben did this year and last he'll get crucified by the media, just how guys like him and lebron are treated

Lol you'll warm up to lebron one day, I know steph is your Boi

I realize this is a Panthers board but I wanted to generate a discussion.

We all know the saga of Lebron. Hometown hero who took his "talents to south beach" and later returned home when his intent was achieved.

But he left one "big three" in Miami to join another in Cleveland on the way to another title last year. So apparently the tools around him aren't sufficient because he now claims that they "need help." According to Lebron, the Cavs need a "playmaker."

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/news/sports/wp/2017/01/24/frustrated-lebron-james-desperately-wants-the-cavs-to-get-a-playmaker/

Outside of Charles Barkley, I don't really see anyone throwing him under the bus and most discussions are generated around who the Cavs could bring in to help Lebron and co.

The discussion I want to generate is this:

If an NFL QB were to publicly state that he "needs a playmaker/help" how would the media/fans respond. I don't want to to make this all about Cam and how he is mistreated by the media and so forth, but using him as an example I can't just see this not blowing up if he were to make a comment like this with terms like "entitled" or "cry baby" being thrown around.

What're your thoughts?

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
