"one incident"

He broke a girl's jaw, cheekbone, and other bones in her face for slapping him after he used a homosexual slur. She said something to him after he insulted her friend, he bucked at her in a threatening manner, she slapped him, and then he hit her with a right hook that sent her to the hospital.

I understand you want to win, but at least maintain some integrity/humanity and don't downplay what happened. He's an amazing athlete but an absolute shitlord.

Uh huh, and this incident was over three years ago.  He was kicked off of OU's Football team for over and a year, and has done massive amounts of Community Service.  Can we please stop talking about something he's already been punished for?  There aren't even any legal proceedings anymore it's so old.

He will get a second chance, and it won't be by us because our team is taking "the morale high ground."

Not even gonna mention the fact she spit on him too, huh?  Called him names, hit him first, all this stuff huh?  And BLATANTLY instigated the incident?  Just gonna ignore that as well?

He was not kicked off the team. He redshirted for a year so he didn't lose anything and the girl did not spit on him so quit regurgitating BS to make him look better. The kid absolutely deserves a 2nd chance but I don't believe it will be here.

She could've pushed icicles down his piss hole, you don't hit a woman. Walk away. Get away from the situation. You definitely don't do what he did.

The guy will get a second chance and I believe in them. Just a .000001% chance it's with us.

Agree on everything you stated.  I think with his prior stuff with DV, that and him being shy does not help him at all.

Its sad really, a Biletnikoff winner shouldn't be undraftable. He needs a better coach and to just be transparent and honest.  His camp are costing themselves millions

Incorrect, he couldn't use any of the facilities during this time frame.  He was redshirted.  But, could not use any of the OU football facilities.  The media doesn't want the fact he couldn't use any of the facilities known.  Because they want to keep their "grudge" against him going.

No, we can't, because he did it. You don't get to just put the seal on something once time has been done. That's not how this works and it never has. Otherwise, we wouldn't be looking at all of these other folks sideways.

We don't stop talking about bad things that have happened because we don't want to forget and allow history to repeat itself. It's very simple.

Again, the kid is an amazing athletic talent, but is an idiot at best. Describing the situation as "one incident" and implying that there's a statute of limitations on how long somebody should be regarded as a piece of poo shows a total disconnect from reality, or at least basic decency.

As for spitting on him... Mixon never claimed it himself. Otherwise, she'd have been hit with the assault charges instead. In fact, she claimed that it was Mixon that spat on her. Mixon also harassed her gay friend along with several of his teammates, which then escalated inside once the friend responded with an ethnic slur in response to the homosexual slur (NEITHER ARE OK).

This dude could have used his RB vision then and left. Or he could have, you know, not harassed somebody over their sexual orientation.

Regardless though, in the end, you're trying to downplay something that happened to another human being just for bragging rights over a game. That's vile.

I'll take integrity over a trophy any day of the week.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
