SOJA Final Mock

SOJA

Recommended Posts

Alternative mock assuming no trades and some different picks for fun:

Round 1 Pick 8

dm_151029_enterprise_leonard_fournette_h

Leonard Fournette RB LSU falls to 8. Gettleman silences the phones and turns in the card immediately. I'm personally not sure how I feel about this pick, but if our staff loves him as much as Jeremy is reporting I trust them. Let's hope we are getting the next Adrian Peterson.

Round 2 Pick 40

takkarist-mckinley-ucla.jpg?w=1000&h=586

Takk McKinley DE UCLA The Panthers fans joins the Panthers. I wrote about him in the Takk thread in the main forum, but the tl;dr is: he's about a inch short but makes up for it with good arm length and hand size. He could put on about 10 pounds of muscle and be a good size for a 4-3 end. Impressive motor, but think he needs to add a good swim move to his game. Will be up to him whether he is a dominant player or not, but you take a chance on his potential here.

Round 2 Pick 64

159890_LW_UWvsASU_05-780x591.jpg

Kevin King CB Washington I've seen this guy mocked as early as round 1 so this might be a false dream but I could see Gettleman falling in love and not being able to pass up this guy for his size. 6'3" is huge for a CB. I think we are content with Worley, we love Bradberry but mark my words if a top CB prospect is there at 64 Gettleman will pull the trigger. I could see him now saying this guy had a round 1 grade on him.

Round 3 Pick 98

Carlos-Henderson-dynasty-rookie.jpg

Carlos Henderson WR Louisiana Tech I'm kind of obsessed with us getting this guy. I think he could really add some toughness and deep playmaking ability we've lacked since Smitty. There will never be another Smitty but maybe Carlos Henderson could make his own name as a Panthers legend.

Round 4 Pick 115

watkins_carlos_dance_700.JPG

Carlos Watkins DT Clemson.  *cue the huddle implosion with us drafting a DT* I got this from the most recent Charlotte Observer mock that said we were looking to bolster our defensive tackle depth. Look you might hate it but we are probably drafting a defensive tackle this year. Tough to tell on Clemson's line how much this guy can do because they have so much talent. He played well against the best competition though and that's a great sign.

Round 5 Pick 152

9691318-t.j.-logan-ncaa-football-the-cit

TJ Logan RB UNC Logan was a pretty highly touted prospect coming into UNC. In his four years he played with Bernard and Hood- two other huge prospects so he was a bit overshadowed, but trust me when this guy got his chance he made the most of it. Now you might be thinking. WTF SOJA we already added Fournette why add Logan too? Well this is Gettleman's speciality first off and second the guy is a dangerous KR. Stewey isn't going to last forever and Logan can be an absolutely devastating backup to Fournette. Plus look at that fuging catch.

Round 6 Pick 192

Wake-Forest-v-North-Carolina-j_XjpMJvL11

Mack Hollins WR UNC *cue another Huddle implosion*. Calm your mind and let me put you at ease why this pick makes too much sense for us. First off Hollins has got a fantastic work ethic. In a room full of highly touted prospects Hollins worked his way up to being UNC's number one WR. How did he do it? First off he's a demon on special teams. That's right this is mostly a special teams pick, but let me assure you it's worth it. At this point in the draft you want anything that's going to produce. Look at the Mayo pick for example. Hollins will be a day one gunner and could have a lengthy career as a special teams ace. Next up: he's got fantastic straight line speed. He could be a wonderful kink for a couple plays a game for Cam to just air it out and hopefully catch the defense sleeping.

Round 7 Pick 233

vt_fb_sam_rogers_2015_05.jpg

Sam Rogers FB VT Panthers luck out here and the best FB is still on the board in round 7. Shula doesn't historically use FBs, preferring two TE end sets. But when you spend the 8th overall pick on Fournette you better make sure you've got someone to pave the way for that man to run the ball. Rogers is a workhorse and fits the Keep Pounding mantra perfectly.

I do not understand why people keep calling for the Fournette/Peterson comparisons. Peterson was a lot more shiftier than Fournette, Fournette is all about 1 cut speed and overwhelming power. Peterson had the power but could also juke the living poo out of you early on in his career.

Mccaffery in the first is a reach. If anything, mid 20s is where he should go. He has been hyped so much. No running back should go in the first round. Running back is the second easiest position to play in the NFL. Like Ive said numerous times already, look at last year. Elliot went 5th, jordan howard went in the 5th round. Elliot finished the season with only a couple yards more than howard. THERE IS NO NEED TO DRAFT A RUNNING BACK THAT HIGH!!!
Leveon bell
D. Murray
L. Mccoy
M. Forte
J. Charles
L. Miller
R. Rice
D. Freeman
David Johnson
All were picked after the first round. Get it together guys...mccaffery in the top 20 isnt worth it. At 8 is a joke

Ok you clearly did not read my post at all- I said this was partially what I want to happen partially what I think will happen/could happen. Furthermore, in my mock we didn't draft him at 8 we drafted him at 12. Reading skills 1/10

Whether you like it or not McCaffrey is getting drafted pretty high

I like the overall scenario.  However, instead of 12 and their 3rd rounder, if asking price isn't too high I would take 12 and take their #1 in the 2nd round.  I would give 8 and lets say the 6th to make that happen.

someone else pointed that out and I agree with both of you. I think the Browns would be desperate enough to do it and they have a ton of picks

Its funny you say I didnt read your post and here I am thinking if you read my post. In your mock he goes at 12. And i said, "Anywhere in the top 20 is a reach" so that answers that. As for drafting him at 8, many people on here and mocks have been saying panthers should take him with their 8th pick. Altho i agree he will get drafted high, I have proven my argument that it is better to wait on a rb and improve your roster elsewhere.
