Jaguars still undecided on Bortles 5th year option

Honestly, I don't think they should pick it up, and that's not necessarily a knock against his prospects as their QB of the future. He very well might warrant another contract, but at this point he does NOT deserve to be paid 22 million his fifth year in the league. If he improves this offseason and you think there's a chance he might be the QB of the future then you pay him 15-17 million with escalating incentives. That's the going rate for a starting QB with questions this year and wouldn't set the franchise back for years to come.

This dude sucks man.  Not only has his hair line regressed, but so has his throwing motion.  It's approaching Timmy The Golden Calf of Bristol's level of terrible.

Oh, I agree, he regressed tremendously last season, his throwing motion was down right abysmal, but at the same time he had a relatively successful year prior to last year, so it would be foolish to invest the 5th year option at that pricetag regardless of how well he does this upcoming season. Unless he comes out like Kirk cousins, he's not worth that kind of deal. Don't give him the fifth year option, let the last year play out, then decide whether to sign him long term or not at a more team friendly deal.
