Defense wins championships...

Said it for years around here...offense gets you to the playoffs, defense wins you the trophy.

We lost the SB because our entire offense came out and played butt tight....defenses don't normally do that....they travel well, and can play at a high level both indoors and outdoors come February.

You have to score more points than the opponent  to win the game and when your facing elite defense in playoffs your gonna need talent on the O.

That's a fair point.  Perhaps I used the wrong word in "mature".

Bottom line is I think Pep knows his role on this team.  He alluded to it in the interview he did with Panthers.com, he talked about his growth as an individual and said his role is to come in and offer leadership and experience while still being able to be productive.  I don't think he's blowing smoke either, dude seems very sincere and any young DE could benefit greatly from being around Peppers.

A lot of older ones as well

Nope the inability of sub-par offense ,if we had adequate talent like actual #1 & #2 WR we would have won.

So we should draft Mike Williams or Corey Davis?

Denver's defense ate us alive.

I want to eat other team's QBs alive... especially Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, and Jameis Winston. We already have the offensive talent to hang with those teams, and I'd rather get help on the other side of the ball to (hopefully) increase our chances of at least 6 wins a season.

The easiest way to the playoffs is to win your division. Ask the Patriots.

I won't be disappointed in Fournette, Howard, or even McCaffrey. So no need to keep bumping the font size up. It doesn't prove anything by doing that, lol.

This just proves how much you know about football .

They ate us alive because of limited talent. We had bunch of #3 WRs that couldn't crest separation , which allowed them stack the box and stop the run . And of course having 2 turnstile offensive tackle didn't help

The reason they "fested" was because offense didn't have the weapons to counter the defense . They lost to majority of teams that had a competent offense

You don't go 15-1 without the talent.  You don't do what we did to Arizona without the talent.

We had the talent to beat the Broncos....what we didn't have was the execution.  Our entire offense was a damn mess that game, and it wasn't just because we didn't have another no. 1 TE, or Mike Williams.

We were a Top 5 defense in 2015....so it was more than adequate.

It wasn't adequate enough, obviously.

TD had a football for an arm, and they got gassed because they were on the field so much. They did a decent enough job but Denver's D just continued to stonewall us. Not because we didn't have the weapons, because we clearly did.

I think this team is already poised to be better next year on defense (barring injury of course).

The LB core is already solid. No need to elaborate on it.

The secondary should be a lot better. Mike Adams is an upgrade at SS (providing he doesn't drastically age over the course of the season...we've all seen it happen before). Kurt Coleman can move back to FS which seems to be his natural position. Bradberry already looks like a future Pro Bowler and should improve in his 2nd year. My only question mark is D. Worley, and even he showed improvement by season's end.

The DL getting Peppers is a huge upgrade over Ealy. Addison had a breakout season and appears to hitting his prime. Wes Horton and CJ provide depth. Starr and Kwann both have motivation to have career years this season. Vernon Butler has had a year of seasoning and his ankle should be healed. Kyle Love is good for depth.

Hopefully Peppers and Johnson don't fall of sharply this season because of age. We need to groom someone to take their space. But, would 1st round D-lineman get significant playing time with the current rotation?.

My only other  "concern" is the corner spot opposite Bradberry. I hope Worley improves. But, I could understand if the team wanted another corner to compete for the job, especially if his has the potential to be a stud down the line. I just can't see the Panthers going for a CB in the top 10 this year.

The Defense isn't in too bad a shape as is. This seems to be a year where we need to improve the offense via the RB, WR, or a complimentary TE opposite Olsen.
