Your head coach, GM and OC says he fits great and know exactly how to use him

Normally I'd be somewhat leery that talk is cheap, but it gives me a lot of confidence that we have Lance Taylor on staff.  He DEFINITELY knows how to use McCaff, and hopefully will help Shula & Ron to do so...

Maybe the narrative excluded some details, but why did they not entertain the idea of a trade?  They had 2 players in their scope-  They must have fallen in love with McCaffery.  That is why we trade up and not back---we project who we like and target them.  Is that not evidenced here?  They called Tennessee's pick a wild card  etc. I think this tells us a lot about their approach--they pick players before the draft--and shop for them in each round, it seems.

But to not consider a trade?  What if they were going to give us a second to drop 2 spots?  McCaffrey would have probably still been there (only  2 RBs in round 1 were taken) and we could have added a good player in the second. This is a business meeting--we should entertain offers.

This was interesting.  There is a lot to be learned about our war room strategy.

There were rumblings the Broncos wanted McCaffrey, so they might have been the team calling us. We also had teams wanting QB's around our spot and we ended up having both the Chiefs and Texans emerging on top. To me, it's more likely that accepting whatever offer was out there would've taken us down to the 20s and out of range for the top players on our board.

We earned the 8th pick. Gettleman wasn't going to give it up, especially after seeing Fournette and Adams taken and fretting that the Chargers could take McCaffrey.

I am happy it worked out.....Here is what people--including me--don't always get:  Yes, McCaffrey is a good player, and there are other perhaps better players/athletes that were there after him.  But what player has the ability to expand the offense?  Protect Cam?  etc.  In other words, we need to look at his impact and not his skill level--this is not to say McCaffrey is not a beast, but he might be the player with the biggest impact.  How much does a TE touch the ball (when you already have Olsen)?  A WR?  This guy is going to join the Mt. Rushmore of the Panthers--Luke, Cam, TD, and now CM.  I am pumped.

If Howard makes it past TB they may have tried. TB wasn't gonna trade with us. That meant we would have had to get to 18. Would have been hard to do with pick 40 and something else.

Dude people were getting back into the first with 3rd and 4th rounders. We was stupid for not trading back in to get Howard. All I can say is they didn't want him or Njoku bad enough
