What the hell happened to the Titans?

Vince Young may restart the HOF journey soon.

Go dig up the threads I made about Vince back in February. I told people KERRY COLLINS IS STILL KERRY COLLINS. Vince deserves another chance to start and prove himself. If he bombs, then the Titans know he aint got it, and can cut their losses. But with the money he's making currently (on the bench) they'd be fools not to give him 1 last chance under center. Hell the season is OVER. He cant be any worse than the way Collins is playing right now, which is downright pathetic. His lack of mobility makes it even worse.

Well if Kerry Collins is that bad and Young still can't beat him out, then why in the hell should anybody believe that Young is the future? Could it be that the Titans lost their best defensive player and their DC, and that's really the bigger problem?

There's a good article on PFT about this right now... they make a good argument too... If Fisher goes with Young at QB now... the rest of the team might see that as a sign of giving up on the season, correctly or not. 0-4 is bad enough, but perceiving that your coach has given up would be rough.

Jeff Garcia couldn't beat out Jamarcus Russell. I guess its safe to assume Russell is better right? Collins is garbage, look at his numbers. He definitely aint the future and hasn't won a game this year, its time to give Vince another shot. If the roles were reversed and Vince were 0-4 and was puttin up Collins #'s a change would be made. You can't blame the D for Collins being a statue in the pocket. His o-line aint givin him that perfect protection they did last year, rendering him useless.

Young is what someone chose as a carbon copy when they made Jamarcus Russell: A wildly successful QB in college who could just as easily run it as pass it. Put them in the NFL, and their game just doesn't compute. When he's 1 of maybe 3-5 truly elite athletes on the field, he is amazing (as in college). When he's 1 of 22 elite athletes, he struggles to be mediocre.

Good post. I agree completely.

In college he didn't need to have the mental abilities of a star NFL quarterback because he could make plays using his athleticism. That doesn't work as well when you have all of the best that played in college on the other side of the field.

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
