Week 1 Monday Night Thread (Saints/Vikings) (Chargers/Broncos)

Some pretty interesting and good matchups for the first Monday Night series of the year. Saints have changed a good bit and we play them in a couple weeks, and also play the Vikings later in the year. Also Ginn and AJ Klein are on the Saints while I believe Remmers is starting for the Vikings, and this is the premier of a bunch of high profile rookies (Dalvin Cook, Alvin Kamara, Marshon Lattimore, Ryan Ramczyk) (second game : Demarcus Walker, Carlos Henderson /Mike Williams, Jake Butt wont make their debut until probably the 2nd half of the season) . Obviously pulling for the Vikings to put the Saints as the only team with a loss in the division, and thus in last place..

2nd game is a bit less interesting since I don't care too much about either team and we aren't playing either of them unless we meet either of them in the Super Bowl . Also a very late game I doubt a bunch of people on the east coast will be watching. Although I will be watching it because I always have monday tuesday wednesdays off from work and have nothing better to do . The Broncos are heavily favored and the chargers were ass last year, Rivers went to NC State once upon a time and I obviously dont like Denver so Ill be cheering for the Chargers to pull the upset.

The Saints beating the Vikings would be a bigger upset than the Chargers beating the Broncos.  The Chargers can get after the QB.  Overall wouldn't bet either way though.  Might as well have dubbed these the snooze bowls between teams going nowhere, all likely to pick between 10-20 in next year's draft.

Gonna be a tough game. Vikings defense is legit. Interested to see how Ramczyk holds up at LT. The offense really struggled to move the ball in the preseason, albeit Drew only played one series and they drove down the field for a FG. The RB battle will be a good one to watch, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Payton feature Peterson tonight.

The Vikings offense struggled to move the ball last year and should be a good learning game for the new players on defense. I expect Cam to give Remmers a problem all night, but I'll be watching the rest of the line to see if they can give him some help. Rankins has been pretty stout this preseason. Hoping it translates over. Finally some speed and athletiscm in the linebacking corp. Really have enjoyed watching Klein so far. He's not Kuechly, but playing with him sure has helped. Then I pray for no injuries in the back end this year.

Unfortunately, I think the awful offensive line of the Vikings might skew how the Saints defense will look. I'm thinking next week we will see a more true version of the Saints. But who knows? I'll be watching regardless.

The Seahawks have by far the worst OL in football (on display yesterday)-but yes, the Vikings deserve Honorable Mention.

I like the Vikings stadium a lot more than that s*** they have in ATL

Yep, but the Metrodome roof collapsed and the threat of relocation to LA was real.  Still a political quagmire in Minny.

I say with no relocation threat and multiple cities with far more disastrous stadiums/demographics than CLT, that BOA will remain home of the Panthers for a long time regardless of owner.

    • I don't know. CMC is like others and may have lip serviced that line of " I had no plan or wanted to leave Carolina" I think he even said he bought a house too and wanted this to be home.   Here's what I heard- In a way Panthers org gave him a test and he didn't "fight" back. They approached CMC and told him they wanted to put him on IR since the "season" was over or out of playoff reach. CMC didn't fight it one lick and agreed. They secretly wanted him to kept playing or want to, but there was no kickback. I honestly don't know if its real or not, 5th hand information type deal doing on. Yes he had bruises and pains, but was able to play...... but went along with Panthers staff. Odd to be playing games with star players, but whatever....   Plus the staff doctors found out about his tendinitis and there was nothing to fix it. Even with him missing time, it was the best move to trade him before he got inflamed constantly.    Lastly, its mostly time a combo of stuff, Fitterererere did not sign him to be the highest paid RB. That was classic Marty "give me a" herniay doing. GMs have different values on roster spots and rumor was Fitterererer was one that didn't want to pay RBs. For all his faults, he's right about that......
    • I think google is confusing signing bonus with guaranteed money. If you get a guarantee of say $10 million, it doesn’t matter if the signing bonus is $5 or $8 million, it’s the $10 million number that affects the cap, as the signing bonus is always just a portion of the guaranteed money anyways. And again, I’ll admit I’m not 100% sure about it, but I’m pretty sure it is the case.
