Could it be the offense is dumbed down b/c of Cam's condition

Do they honestly believe a chopped nut offense with Cam leading is a better chance of winning than Derek with a full playbook? Then again, we got that safety option with CMC which wasn't being used until being down 18 points in the second half of the third game of the season.

Shula and Rivera are very (over)reactionary on offense and usually several games behind the curve.

The coin has finally dropped that they should protect Cam with short passes and they realized he's lost his accuracy some with the deep ball. So they go all in vs the Saints with a bunch of hastily inserted horizontal passes and bubble screens. What was especially maddening was that played right into the Saints plan of playing 3 safeties).

We'll see what they can do in upcoming games, but both coaches have shown as far as the offense their plans require everyone performing above what is asked of them which is why they constantly fail.

"Dumbing down" is what you do when someone can't handle the mental aspects of the job.

"Scaled back" would be a better term to use for limiting the offense because the quarterback is injured.

Side Note: I'm sure someone will come in and say that a Shula offense couldn't possibly be dumbed down any further than it already is.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
