Was playing the sidelines just to obvious?

Even Williams didn't go out of bounds.

To be honest, I think it had more to do with them not trying to save time and instead just seeing if they could break out on a play and score. So I guess the real problem is that they need to try to get at least something instead of settling for all or nothing.

I want to know why with no time remaining didn't they let Lloyd have some fun and see if he can boot a long one (he doesn't have to make it really). We will never know if he can really hit those long ones till we let him try in-game.

Right, that was my point. I know we won the game so it doesn't really matter. But against a better team an extra FG might have been enough. 45 yards was all we really needed. The whole drive was just stupid and it wasn't the first time they have had poor clock management.

My bad. I changed my reply without re-reading the original post and ended up missing your point.

And yeah, it's not the first time I've had to watch the clock expire because they've made no attempt to get out of bounds. But, then again, if they did do as you suggest and ended up with nothing, would you say it was too conservative (not necessarily "you" but anyone).

Man do you know how much relief that would be if he could kick 60 yarders consistently. Our offense could get away with moving the ball 6-8 yards from their own 40 yard line in three tries and not have to punt or fake a 4th down attempt. :lol:

I though it was more around 62 yards. Thats more in the realm of possibility.

He could serve two incredibly important ST functions. Scoring from long distance and knocking the piss out of it on KO.

A kick that long might have a lower trajectory, which makes it easier to block, and if its blocked, it can be returned.

Oh lets see a struggling O on a 0-3 team. I think that sounds like the perfect time for a like motivation. If he hits a 62 yarder to end half time that locker room would be insane you would have these guys more pumped up then they have been all season. Its worth the chance IMO. But I also would have gone for it on that 4th. Im not at all conservative.

      I see Bryce's development this way: He improved when his supporting cast improved.  TMac and Dowdle saved his arse last year, but in fairness, most good QBs have good WRs and good RBs--and good OLs.   The 2025 OL underperformed, actually. They were above average, but they should have been elite if you consider the salary cap.   As soon as we signed Lewis and Hunt, I started thinking, "That's not sustainable.  With Ickey about to get paid a LT salary, Moton and Hunt grabbling $50m per season combined, and Lewis around $17m--that would be nearly $100m and the Center just walked.  Yikes.  What does that mean?  Rico walks, Mays walks, and we do not have a top 5 WR on a second contract.  We do not have an elite TE, and only 1 is on a modest second contract. And now Bryce will demand $50m for his incremental rise to mediocrity?   So when we sign Bryce, we will get weaker at other positions.  Hunt, Moton, maybe Ickey and Lewis, will all be casualties--that is the right move regardless (not sure yet about Ickey, but he was not elite) Bryce is one lucky, entitled camper.  No competition since being drafted, and he lost his job for a while to the aging clipboard holder.  Now we are bringing in UDFAs and busts to compete with him.

      Probably not.  If we are taking a QB, it would be a prospect to replace Bryce and not a flyer type player.  I can't say for sure, but I doubt he would have cracked the top 3-4 QBs even if he were to play this coming season.

      The Giants, Cardinals  and Dolphins should have moved on, but they didn't and ended up cutting their QB early into a monster second contract and had to eat a TON of dead cap money.
