All very plausible.

Gotta wonder if outside forces will put pressure on the league in the midst of this. Not great timing for this to all come out in the middle of the #metoo movement.

Yeap, containment will likely be difficult at this point.  Wouldn't be surprised if other owners are scrambling to cover up their own office misdeeds.

I think it's connected.  I believe anyone that has sniffed even the tiniest scent of sexual harassment is investigating right now.

I'd bet that JJ mentioned to someone at SI about rumors he heard, but never had any factual knowledge of.  Either that, or someone that is/was associated with the team and had direct knowledge came forward with a tip.  Either way, without the #metoo movement, I doubt we'd have heard anything about this.

From the tone of the stories, at least some of it was going on right out in the open.  And there have been rumors of Richardson going a little off the rails for a while now.  I'd say it's very plausible that he just lost his filters and became the proverbial creepy old pervert (not good for someone in a power position).

That said, the fact that he was said to "groom" women gradually makes him look more like a predator than just a creepy old man, so who knows?

Yep, just like half of Hollywood is still scared to death that they will be the next to fall.  This may be cynical, but the adage that "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" is true.  And I just can't see this many ultra wealthy and powerful men, most of whom also were raised in a different time and social environment, all being upstanding citizens and just solid businessmen that keep their noses clean.  There has to be a lot more of this type of thing going on in the upper levels of the NFL, and there are likely some owners with a little flutter in their stomachs right now.

Jones and Irsay some to mind.

A lot of comments that would have been considered complementary to women a few decades ago are now grounds for administrative action or termination.

Even by those antiquated standards, J.R. appears to have gone beyond the realm of decency.  Decades of deference by his office subordinates likely contributed to his sense of invulnerability.

This is the saddest part.  Just like everything we've heard with the Hollywood thing, victims are often intimidated and too fearful to come forward.  Many are afraid of losing a job they can't afford to lose, and other don't think anyone would believe them and they would be persecuted and ridiculed for coming forward, so they stay silent.  But with so many becoming more embolden to say what has been happening, the potential for a cascade of sexual harassment allegations within the NFL is very real.

Yeah.  Even 20 years ago, I don't think it was okay to ask women if you could shave their legs.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
