with competent coaching its 14-0. this team has no killer instinct. you should not lose games where you have a 1+ possession lead, possession of the ball, and less than 5 minutes in the game.

Yeah definitely.

Competent coaching would have prevented Cam from throwing a pick 6 and KB getting manhandled by Marcus Peters in that KC game last season. Good point.

11-3 in close games? I'll take it!

There are about 28 teams in the NFL that aren't fortunate enough to be in that situation and when they are they get the adverse of the results.

but these are only close games because we let other teams crawl back into it. teams that win super bowls don't let up after going up 10+ in the 2nd half. teams that win super bowls dont play scared on defense, giving the receivers a 10 yard cushion off the LOS.

i cant chalk up winning a game 38-35 after being up 21 going into the 4th quarter as "winning a close game." that game should never be close in the first place.

Do you have any evidence of other teams going up big and then not letting their foot off the gas consistently?

I would like to see how we compare to what you perceive as the mark of greatness (blowing every team you beat out)

hurr durr congrats on that one scenario. maybe if we didnt punt on 3 of 5 possession, including a 20 play drive, we wouldnt have lost that game.

McDermott was our D Coordinator for those losses, are we blaming him?

I blame Rivera because we do the same poo now with Wilks at DC, I blame Rivera/Shula for going run-run-pass and 3 and out every 3rd/4th quarter when we have a 7+ pt lead. I blame Shula for calling Stew up the middle on 2nd and 9 and forcing Cam into a 3rd and long when the defense can pin their ears back and blitz.

Do you also blame Rivera for being 11-3 in these games

At what point do we begin to credit the opposing team for running with momentum?

i dont expect to blow every team out. i expect us not to blow multiple possession leads in less than a quarter. i expect us not to go 3 and out damn near every time we have at least a one possession lead in the 2nd half.

look at any team that went deep into the playoffs the past few years and you'll see they dont let others teams back into the game as frequently as the Panthers. they dont let Luke fuging McCown drive 70 yards in 2 minutes.

I mean we did that consistently in 2015 and rolled through the postseason en route to a super bowl appearance. That is an example of a team that went deep into the playoffs, as you requested.

But yeah....we’re doing it wrong

That would be ridiculous. Everyone knows you pulverize every team and they concede once you get a 10 point lead!!!

difference between thinking we should beat every team by 20+ and expecting us not to blow 10+ leads in under 3 minutes.

hard not to when our offense becomes predictable with a lead and our defense as well. Romo was calling out how soft a zone we played and the Vikes marched down the field.

Aren’t you like a converted Dolphins fan anyway?

yeah 6 times we blew a 10+ point lead (4 of those being 3 possession leads (17+ points)) in 2015. we were fortunate to go 6-0 in those scenarios. if you are satisfied with that congrats. i dont think this team wins a championship if this trend continues.
