Steve Smith Said Let CMC Be A RB

I don't like Shula and I didn't like the game plan we had with the Falcons but Smith is wrong. CMC is being used right. Our offense is set up to use the read option and control the clock not huge splash plays. Only problem is when you do that you put pressure on the defense and can only make little mistakes. It's a terrible idea imo because it's playing not to lose. Without going into a huge in depth explanation here's why it's not working and why CMC doesn't work.

For the offense to work the defense needs to limit opposing offenses to the 50 yard line. Has that happen?

For the read option to work Cam needs to make the right choice every time. Has that happened?

For this offense to score points the defense needs to generate turnovers. Has that happened?

For CMC to be effective WR he needs to work in space. Has that happen?

Smith is right about one thing. Shula isn't creative. He doesn't have plays that free his star players. His calling is down right predictable and he doesn't utilize his personal wisely.

Snake you do know your first and last statement contradicted each other. If cmc is used right then how is shula not using him right lol. Maybe if that's the case, we should just keep CMC as a RB and let him run with Armah. Lets go back to simple power football similar to 2013, do play-action and go back to an air coryell style

I figured someone would say that.

He is being used right to his talent abilities and how Shula has set the system up. How he is using him wrong is by a poor game plan. Like a run on 2nd and short or 5 runs and no passing using a power read option 6 times in a row. CMC really is built for that system even if I'm not a fan but it's pointless if you can't call the right plays. CMC is a Swiss Army Knife, he can attack a defense in any formation. But does it really matter if you can't call good plays? Or would it help if you just limited him to just rushing?

Steve still wants Shula to burn,.. and Rivera,.. probably holds them as much accountable to giving him the boot as Dave,..

and i do too,.. but I want the Panthers to win. Who knows what happens next year.

i wish Steve and Josh had stayed on the team, and Jordan Gross may have played longer if not told to take a pay cut. I didn’t care about Deangelo,..

Anyone think we might have won that Super Bowl if Steve played? Maybe beat the Seahawks in 2014 and who knows?

i doubt he would have played until now but who knows— Baltimore sucks.

    • I don't think it was fear of the unknown because he tried to hide the extent of the injuries that made him drop. After the drop, the reports I heard were that teams knew what was wrong with his knee and it was something similar to another athlete from a few years ago (honestly don't remember if it was even a football player).  That it was basically one of those things where he should be fine for a while, there isn't a huge concern of immediate injury risk.   But what he has going on with his knee is something that is degenerative and there's little chance he'll be able to play more than 5 or so years on it before he won't be able to play anymore. So basically it was teams knowing if they draft him, he's probably going to be only a rookie contract player and even if he's great, you might not be able to get use out of him on a second contract.  Which in turn makes the drop make sense, but I'm kinda surprised some contending team didn't take him late in the 1st, hoping he'd put them over the top on a SB run but then not even have to worry about giving him a big contract in 4 years too.
    • Depends if they see the writing on the wall with their roster and contracts and decide to bite the bullet and begin a complete rebuild and roster overhaul.  I have no clue why some franchises (IE us) refuse to do this and keep half assing trying to win 8 games or so.  Do it correctly, take your lumps and build a contender.  We shall see what loomis decides.
    • Each team plays 17 games.  I do not see why they don't just have each team play one international game per year.  Neutral site game, 8 home, 8 away.
