Only 1 team in the last 18 years has won a SuperBowl with a receiving group as awful as ours. The 2000 Baltimore Ravens

The fans that find some sort of bizarre consolation in defending Gettleman while we field the worst WR corps in the NFL are completely beyond displaying the capability of any rational discourse. There is no reasoning with someone that is okay with losing to the point they will rationalize failed moves even as things crumble around them. Losing has been such a normal part of this franchise for so many years that some of you have seemingly become accustomed to it. It's sad.

I think the point is that he didn't "field" the worst WR Corp in the NFL, it became that way through injuries (which Gettleman can't control) and by trading away KB (which Gettleman had Nothing to do with). I defend him when he should be defended,  and I don't when he makes an error.

He made a mistake letting Ginn go, I won't defend that, but he didn't field the worst WR Corp in the NFL so I will defend him on that. I think there's some rational discourse in that.

That's all fine and good,  but some of you are trying to act like our receiving corps was set even with KB and Funchess. Nope!  We were stocked with a corps full of question marks and not exclamation points!

I've supported Funchess throughout,  and called for Byrd even last season. Although I think that Funchess is legit and getting better,  I doubt that Byrd is the next T.Y. Hilton. Sure,  he had a good during preseason,  but he disappeared as well.  I still don't know if he's a legit three or just slightly above average depth.  The fact is,  both Byrd and Funchess, and of course a rookie with a hammy presented enough questions in my mind, where someone should have said, "Let's shore this group up,  and stop dilly-dallying around."

Exactly. And let’s remember, Ginn was basically non-existent  for three years before DG pulled him of the scrap heap. On a 49er team that was desperate for WR help. Letting him go in 2014 was much worse, IMO. Especially when you’re letting Smith and Lafell. But he couldn’t get on the field there either.

FOR RED.......not poster I quoted......  I judge a GM by each move. I don’t bend every opinion I have to support/bash anyone in the Panthers organization. I’ve defended DG some, and bashed him( I’ve been trashing almost everything he did this past off-season. I said he should be fired the day we signed Matt Kalil. Overdrafted CMC. Followed it with Samuel. Wasn’t happy with the pick but he flashed some and we will have to see what he becomes. I like Moton but do they have a plan for him? I can deal with a “redshirt year” but He needs to see the field. Same for Hall, which could have been Eddie Jackson and Carl Lawson(two guys I would have used a 2nd on)if we stayed put.

So while you’re swiping that broad brush and painting anyone who doesn’t agree with you that letting Ginn go is the worst move in NFL history is just a biased, please remember that you have spent most of your time on here bashing every move DG has made since March 2014. When he made it personal with you by cutting Smitty. So who is just being biased to support an agenda again?

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone and we have Taylor Moton inked to a recent extension. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
