But hey, let's not mess with the whole "ineptitude of the franchise throughout its life" idea that has run rampant through the Huddle over the last year. You can point out that 21 teams have worse overall records than us, but it won't matter.

They want to compare us to the history of the Patriots and Broncos, Steelers and Cowboys over the last couple of decades, glossing over the hard years each of those franchises suffered through. They'll tell you that Rivera sucks and that Fox sucked before him. They cut their teeth on Madden and saw Belichick run the last two decades of championships through Foxboro.

In short, they're putzes and schmucks. They want their participation trophies and have no idea how darned hard it is to win a championship in the NFL and how rare it is to even hit .500 for a franchise's lifetime.

Lol only would this fan base say they are a more successful franchise than the Bucs and saints when they both have Super Bowls. I forgot the whole reason they play this game is to be .500.

Love the #s, but in all fairness, we came into the league in the salary cap era. We had the expansion draft and we were stacked right away. Before the salary cap era, expansion teams sucked for a long a$$ time before starting to look like an NFL team.

Pre-salary cap was a different era all together. You have to be a terrible, terrible franchise to suck consistently during the salary cap era.

    • I'll be honest.  I'm not sure I want to see any those guys returning right now given what others are presently doing.... minus Coker.  Hubbard returning likely messes the run game up (I mean, it's going to come down regardless but he still), Tremble and Evans actually are doing well, Corbett seems to make us worse up front, and the D has made some strides.  I'd like to just keep that whole lot on the shelf this week.
    • I don't think people know that Icky is still only 25 years old. Panthers signed UDFAs older this year and drafted DJ Johnson. Heres a fact, a deep fact.... Its easier(much) to find a good-great QB than good-great LT. Another fact there's only 12-15 true LTs and the others are larping as LT.  SO....(I'm not a fan btw)......you nearly must resign him at all cost even with him being around the 12th best at times. Its the hardest spot to fill and he's still awful young with 4 years as a pro. Carolina already got 4 years of "cheap" service as well, that's invested time and effort.  The fan-side of me hopes he signs some top 5 at best top 3 big money deal. Just the cap keeps growing and LTs, young LT with experience are rrrrrrare and unique. Tag him if needed and tag him again, then trade him. I think he enjoys being/living in NC.  I hope he's stays on a team friendly deal, but those are soooo rare these days.  Only two options- pay him whatever, even if it's top $$$$$(uggggghhhh..) or tag him for 2027 and keep trying to pay. Worst outcome is trading him for couple 1s, 3s, and 5th maybe a player too.
    • I always loved DJ Moore.  I don't see him wanting to comeback here.  He seems to be tired of inconsistent QB play and you finally see that bubbling over in Chicago.  or maybe he just doesn't like the people.  He actually seemed fine with Fields.....and lobbied for them not to draft Caleb.  So maybe it's just a Caleb issue (and I think Caleb might have tons of baggage/issues that rub folks wrong)
