I would be shocked if there have been any formal proposals to Richardson yet. It takes quite a while to form an ownership group to come up with several billion. A lot of details have to be worked out. And there has not been very much time since Richardson announced the team was for sale. Again, I could be wrong, but to sell the team in a few months would be a first for a team this valuable.

The Observer has indicated there are six or more groups currently ready to submit proposals.

Keep in mind that the impending sale of the Panthers was announced in mid-December.  While the team may not have been able to make formal moves until the season was done, there were no rules preventing potential owners from making plans, gathering investors, etc.

Anyone who has the means and the desire has had a good six weeks to get things ready. And for the kind of people who have the money to buy an NFL team, six weeks is a looooong time.

On that topic: I've probably got a lot of company when I say I am absolutely chomping at the bit to know who's bidding on the team.

If we get the right person, this could easily be the biggest moment in team history.
