Boulware got a chance as a highly regarded UDFA and couldn't make it here (or anywhere else).  Why would we spend a draft pick on a statistically similar player, who played against weaker competition?

You're trying to simplify something that is complex.  Boulware was all heart and determination.  Griffin actually has some instincts, explosiveness, and natural feel for the position.  There is a reason that scouts,  pretty much across the board,  rate him higher.  If he has a good showing at workouts (including the Combine),  he may go higher than the day three projections that he currently grades at.

I'll be rooting like hell for Griffin in the NFL, that's for sure. I didn't watch him play much in college, but damn if he didn't cause Auburn some serious problems in that bowl game. He was all over the field in that game.
