My issue with DG's WR drafting is that he didn't draft WRs, he drafted athletes who fit what he pictured as WRs. KB and Funchess were both viewed as WR/TE tweeners and Samuel was a WR/RB tweener.

Good point that I never even thought about.

First thing we need to do is extend Funchess.  Last years second half resurgence after the KB trade reminded me of J-No at the end of 2014.  Had we extended Norman after 14 we would have been able to afford to keep him, but waiting until after next year IMO will cost us a lot more money.  Remember, the kid is only 23 years old and now has 3 years in our system, it's important to hold onto him because he's got a ton of juice left in him and seems to be close to putting it all together.

If we think he's still trending upwards we should absolutely try to get him re-signed now. If he and his agent still think he's trending upwards, they should probably play out the season and negotiate afterward.

Boy I would be the happiest man alive if we signed Allen Robinson!

For those saying he is Kelvin Benjamin, how?

Watch the film, Robinson is better at everything and he has more bounce after the catch and much quicker in his cuts. He is nothing like Benjamin.

I'm saying that if Funchess doesn't take another step forward next year, no I would not pay him $8-10M per year. If he does and we see him continually progressing upward, sure pay him his market value.

The difference between Funchess and Robinson or Watkins is that Robinson and Watkins have both shown they CAN produce at a high level in the NFL. Watkins had over 1000 yards in 15 games in '15. Robinson had 1500 yards in '15. Funchess barely has that in his entire career. Yes, both have had some injury issues. Robinson's ACL actually concerns me less than Watkins' persistent foot/ankle issues.

So what about ARob's 2016. Looks damn similar to Funchess yet one is worth up to 50% more. Not buying it.  Funchess was a lot less developed coming in. A lot younger too. Played on teams better than ARob too. 2015 that jags team was like cams rookie team: zero defense. Plus the jags typically fell behind early and threw the rock to get back to respectable.

I loved ARob in 2013 as a draftee, but 12M per for a guy coming off a knee injury and a down year prior....... Eh

Jags fans claim it was mainly due to scheme and they may be onto something. In the two games that season after they fired Gus Bradley, Robinson had 9 catches for 147 yards and 5 catches for 82 yards which were good for his 1st and 3rd best games of the season.
