Should the Panthers try and extend Funchess before the season?

Back in the day Philly was always good about locking up their dudes a little early, vs. late.

It's not in Funchess' best interest to do that. His agent probably won't pick up the phone unless we offer a lot.

Same as Norwell last season.

I'd value Williams > Funchess.

These teams are shackling themselves to mediocre WRs on huge contracts. That's just dumb. If Funchess takes another step forward, pay the man. If he puts in another 800ish yard season, let someone else give him $10M per season. It's just not a smart investment IMO to spend that type of money on that level of WR.
