He was asked after that game if he was surprised not to be more involved, and he simply said: “I don’t know, go ask the coordinator.” Then he headed for the bus, adding: “I’m going to enjoy Christmas.”

I predicted 2 years ago that Smith wasn't going to take this lying down.

He isn't happy, and has not been for some time for this very reason.

It's like wasting a fine wine, and that is exactly what is happening to him here in Carolina as bad as I hate to say it. The writing has been on the wall for quite a while now.

Jake's friendship aside, this has the makings of turning ugly unless there are some DRASTIC changes made....and soon.

He wants to contribute to this team, but we can't get him the ball because we have a retard at QB. Only way to fix this is to make a QB change or else Smith continues feeling upset.

I think Smith is more important to Jerry Richardson than Fox is. If it's Smith vs. the coaching staff if we go 4-12, 5-11, or 6-10, then he'll go with #89 and Fox will be gone.

Somebody has given up. The coaches aren't utilizing the "stars" we have on the team or the "stars" on the team have lost their skills.

Steve has NOT lost his skills. He had beaten Talib at least twice on deep passes that would have been walk-in touchdowns if Jake hadn't managed to overshoot him.

Steve's a competitor. He's frustrated after the game (and yeah, he should be).

But if we keep rushing for 250+ yards, teams will have to loosen up on Smitty. I still say we should throw the smoke route or quick slant to him at least once a half, and use the reverse or line him up in the back field at least once a game. Give him those 3 extra touches or so and he'll be a bit happier, and will make something positive happen on all of them...and he's liable to break one off.

But either way, he'll be fine by Tuesday's practice. Just post-game frustration.
