Passing/Receiving

  • Cam Newton  : 21/35 (60%)  /// 237 passing yards ///2 TD, 2 INT
  • Funchess : 53 rec yards
  • DJ Moore : 49 rec yards
  • Ian Thomas : 38 rec yards
  • Curtis Samuel : 37 rec yards (1 TD)
  • CMC : 35 rec yards (1 TD)

Rushing

  • CMC : 3.4 ypc /// 58 rushing yards
  • Cam : 3.6 ypc /// 29 rushing yards
  • CJ : 2.3 ypc /// 9 rushing yards
  • Team : 3.8 ypc /// 118 rushing yards

My Analysis

  • Incredibly messy game, but what matters is we came out with a win while the Falcons lost yet again (they are 1-4) . THAT is the biggest news of the day beside us winning.
  • Some very questionable playcalls all throughout, and very bad clock/time management, who does this fall on?
  • DJ/Curtis showing flashes yet again while Torrey did nothing (Im eating my crow, terrible signing). My opinion is either DJ or C.Samuel needs to start instead of Torrey
  • Funchess was solid, Jarrius Wright has continued to be incredibly clutch and has turned out to be a much better signing than Torrey
  • I'll have to go back and look at Cam's INTs again , but I got the feeling Thomas had a big part in those too
  • Defense has gotten worked again, for 3 games straight, but the redeeming factor is they have been forcing a lot of turnovers
  • Deep passing game is still missing since 2016 but the intermediate is still decent with Funchess and Tight Ends
  • Cam got another game winning drive added on to his career
  • Graham Gano and special teams won us the game

* We have two pretty difficult looking away games coming up vs Redskins and vs Eagles. Hoping TD and Greg returning help us in a HUGE way*

    • The Bucs waived shilo sanders after he got ejected.
    • I'm just tired of ppl saying he's so accurate and then have to see recievers slow down to recieve the ball, ruining any chance at YAC
    • Some people will really look at stuff like this and say "no more excuses" but then make excuses to try and explain away the validity of big-time throws. 🙃   Back on topic though, as I mentioned in the other AT thread earlier, I hope that the team is still exploring the deal. If the Vikings want the Panthers to take on some of the salary, then it had better be at worst a 4th-round pick (though I imagine Dan angling for a 3rd). If they're willing to take on all of it, then maybe at worst a 5th. Tough pill to swallow, giving up a 4th for a 35yr old WR, but if MIN believes they can have similar success behind McCarthy then it could be a smart deal for them. Hell, if AT has any gas in the tank and gives them a 1yr sweetheart deal to close out at home, even better for Minnesota. Yea, Bryce loses his best and most reliable WR. Hunter Renfrow though isn't what I would call a huge step down though (if he's as advertised throughout camp), and it gives more reps to TMac + XL + Coker. This season is all about continued development and answering some of the looming questions (Is Bryce the guy? Is Evero the DC going fwd? How do the young WRs develop? How long does it take this defense to bounce back from being historically awful?).
