okay ron rivera's backup plan if it was 4th and 1 was to have Cam QB sneak the ball

the giants secondary and linebackers knew the circumstances. they knew the panthers had no timeouts and therefore any passing play would probably be a quick out or a pass to a receiver who has a chance to get out of bounds, therefore they were taking away the sidelines, forcing cam to throw it somewhere in the middle of the field.

clocking the ball after a pass play takes much longer than clocking it after a running play. receivers who ran deep routes have to rush back to the line of scrimmage, ref has to collect the ball and throw it to the ump to set it, etc.

ron figured a run to catch them off guard (was hoping for a few more yards from christian), but got the yard, spiked it, then attempted a sideline pass which was incomplete, which led to gano's kick.

not a huge fan of the call, but i completely understand the logic

Gano's amazing kick really saved the coaching staff from getting absolutely dragged for that draw call on 3rd and 1 with only 25 seconds to go and no timeouts while on the very distant fringes of hail Mary FG range. It was an absolutely moronic and indefensible call. I get it, we thought we were going to to catch them off guard and CMC was going to scamper for 10-15 yards and get out of bounds to setup a much more reasonable FG attempt. The issue with that play call is exactly what we saw. What if it doesn't work? Now you're between a rock and a hard place. Do you throw a hail Mary to the endzone or do you try a hail Mary FG? Gano saved their asses.

As madding as the run play was. The game was on the line, and the run play was the safest play to run, and not risk another turnover.  With a turnover, you have no opportunity to win the game at all.

Welcome to coaching, you would have lost.

There's absolutely no way to prove your last sentence is true, yet you state it definitively.

At this point, I really don't care.

In a mistake filled game, in which our team was struggling to make plays and score in the 4th quarter,  a pass play would have most likely ended the game for us.

And yet you speak otherwise as if it was definitive.

Ron's in game strategy leaves a lot to be desired...

With our tendency to play games closer than we should, I'm fine with taking the damn delay of game penalties vs. burning the time outs.  Maybe if we keep stalling out drives Ron will finally fix whatever the hell the issue is with the late huddles/approaches to the line.
