City can't afford it. I really hope the city never considers this an option either. It's sunk cost. The return is mundane.

Before you reply - did you know that the Miami Marlins lose $40 million per year in operating cost?

How do you think Charlotte would do when we can barely fill the Knights games even when we offered $2 beers?

Also, based on the agreement, we as tax payers would have to cover it.

The Carolinas are a huge baseball hotbed with 15+ million people with corporate Charlotte as it’s anchor and nothing else to do during the summer.  Charlotte would do better than over half current markets right now.

Miami is a joke.  South Beach itself, that couldn’t care less about pro sports, is over the bridge from dirt poor Little Havana, where the stadium is located.

What are you talking about? I was replying to someone saying they don't understand why we don't have a pro baseball team.

15+ million people in two baseball crazed states not having a team is honestly more absurd than LA not having one, much less two football teams they don’t care about.  One of them came from the state of Missouri, a third the population of the Carolinas, declining, with worse weather, less corporate, and with two MLB teams.  Absurd.

From an economic standpoint I agree with you.  From a sports fan standpoint, I just want to be able to watch some MLB at my leisure in uptown.  The Knights stadium is absolutely gorgeous, but at the end of the day, no one cares about the game being played.  They just go for the atmosphere.

Exactly.  No one gives a rip about minor league baseball.  The Knights still average the same as the Marlins.

I would be shocked if the MLB put an expansion team in Charlotte or anywhere for that matter. I don’t know anyone who really gives a fug about it anymore

MLB needs Charlotte as bad as Charlotte needs MLB.  As mentioned, the 15+ million TV eyeballs in the Carolinas are big money.  They also want 8 divisions of four.  For Charlotte, the out of down visitors, hotel, restaurant, influx of $$$ from MLB would FARRR surpass the Panthers.

I’m guessing more money because more games? Because stands at any stadium on TV look empty.
