The other lineup question

I like Rivera the person. He's a great guy. Rivera the coach makes enough bad decisions to make me uncomfortable.

I'm still not on the firing bandwagon, though. Just the "question his decision making" one.

How many times is this : like Rivera the person. He's a great guy. Rivera the coach makes enough bad decisions to make me uncomfortable"

Give it a rest.

I think he starts, but I also think his reps drop.  We have a nice rotation.  Moore and Samuel had 118 yards today combined, 8 receptions on 9 targets.  In addition, Moore had 39 yards on 2 carries.  It is very difficult to put that kind of production on the bench because Smith is a veteran.  Heck, these two guys made Funchess less necessary, even though he caught 3 balls on 3 targets for 37 yards.

Chemistry is important. When a QB throws to his top 3 WRs 12 times and they catch 11 passes for 155 yards, how do you justify to your bosses and fans putting Smith back out there, a guy catching about 2.5 passes a game but is not consistent.  In addition, he is not the deep threat we hoped for, so far.

The situation is a good one.  Moore's reps increase, Smith's decrease.  This reminds me of the way Steve Smith sort of emerged as a legit WR during his rookie season.

Fair comparison, though I still recall when Smith was called a "marginal" receiver leading into his first contract extension.

(and the temper tantrum which followed that word being used)

I can do both. Its not that hard.

When we're hoisting a trophy, then there'll be nothing left to be concerned about. Till then...

Love it when these bandwagon jumpers come on here with a resume of 500 posts and start telling people who have been here since 2010 how to be a fan.  These threads are optional.  Now he will get mad at me, telling me that he is not a Newb and that he has always loved the Panthers.

I don't mind new ideas and people, but there seems to be a formula that equates to the newest members are often the largest critics of others.  They think it is their jobs to correct opinions that are not aligned with their own.   That is the best way to never learn more than you already know.

I think it did take Smitty longer to emerge as the threat he became.  He also had about 8 fumbles at a rookie--I think he fumbled 3 times vs Green Bay and cost us a game once.  Going from a feeble memory, so be kind.
