CMC worth the pick?

Never any doubt in my mind CMC was an excellent 1st round pick and who we should take.

Now I'm greedy and would like to see him on punt returns.

Perhaps once Rivera finishes pulling his head out of his ass and doesn't have 22 running off tackle in 4th quarter garbage time. That's C.J.'s job, I mean come on, this is basic common sense.

He's a great player for Carolina and he is doing great things.

That being said as far as position value we passed on a shutdown corner and two franchise quarterbacks (and all the picks they can bring) to select a guy who's been equaled or bested in production by three third rounders in the same draft.

and where would we be if we had Lattimore but were still starting Stewart or Artis Payne at RB ? CMC has been a large chunk of our offense through 2 winning seasons so far , what do you have when you take that production away?

CMC will totally be worth it in the short term if we get to back to back winning seasons for the first time ever in our over 20 years of existence as a franchise. Also if we win a SB in the time he's here that totally changes things too, since SB is the ultimate objective.

We’d be idiots for not taking advantage of the deepest RB draft in a decade is where’d we’d be.

There's really no guarantee we wouldve drafted any of them. Getting Lattimore in round 1 couldve had a butterfly effect on the rest of the draft and who knows what we do with the rest of our picks in that senario

Our other two options would have been cook or fournette if we moved up. Don’t think we made a mistake He’s great

I'm good with our current CBs. But you really would have gone QB round 1?

hes not saying he wouldve gone QB, he saying he wouldve used the pick and traded it to someone who wanted one of the QBs for us to trade down and get more picks i assume

Obviously no one made us an offer we couldn't refuse, because it didn't happen. Question was would he have gone QB anyway at our spot?

I'm pretty sure that wasn't a consideration (nor would anyone have taken seriously that it was).

yea if you remember the circumstances of the 2017 draft. We had a high draft position for the first time in a good while and Gettleman probably knew we weren't going to be drafting that high again for a while. And everyone was calling for us to revitalize/reinvent the offense and add more dynamic skill position players to help Cam out (which we certainly did with Samuel and CMC).

Also keep in mind we went extremely defense heavy in 2016 draft and absolutely bombed it besides Bradberry. People wouldve been calling for Gettlemans head if we got another CB in the 1st after drafting 3 the previous year to not much avail.

    • Went to school in MD when this came out. Dance floor got CRAZY when this joint came on!
    • They had best show out in Week 1 there are zero,I mean zero,  excuses for that offense  defense, haven’t play together yet and they still have Mr Soft and Predictable as DC  I expect break downs at times  …but that offense returns all starters except Tremble and both Mayes and Brady are veterans and can play LG and know the system not up for any participation awards this season they can save that practice energy for Jacksonville.     I’m sick of the, winning,  or looking competitive, when it doesn’t matter.
    • There are some tough decisions that I'm eager to see the results of... Does Blackshear sneak on to the roster as RB4? Does the team go with 4 TEs or just 3 again? And has Mitchell Evans done enough to defend his roster spot from James Mitchell? Who is WR6 and is there a WR7? TMac, XL, Coker, and AT seem to be locks imo and I'm assuming Renfrow also makes it due to all of the camp praise. Who makes it between Brycen Tremayne, Jimmy Horn Jr, and David Moore? If the team goes with 7 WRs, which one of those three doesn't make it? Jacolby George and Emani Bailey both have not gotten a lot of game time. Could the Panthers be trying to hide them so that they can be stashed on the PS? Do they go with 10 OL instead of 9? Who makes it out of Walton, Carter, and Kingston? DL locks are DB, BB3, ARob, and Turk. That leaves Jaden Crumedy, Cam Jackson, Sam Roberts, Shy Tuttle, and LaBryan Ray all competing for the final 1 - 3 spots. Does DJ Johnson get IR'd and Thomas Incoom make the roster as EDGE5? What in the fuuuuuuuuuuuuck is going to happen at LB? Only locks seem to be Wallace, Rozeboom, and Cherelus (Wallace has mentioned in media how Cherelus has been big bro for him on the team). Rhattigan had some good moments against Houston, Martin-Scott is an SC guy, Krys Barnes has popped on defense and on special teams, and Windmon got time starting for the team last season. Are two of those guys going to make it or are the Panthers poaching from another team's cuts? CB5... who is it? Do they go with the 4 expected safeties or bring in a 5th? Has Ransom done enough to take the start from Nick Scott?
