Some coaches take responsibility, others just riverboat

Why do some of us take what Ron says so personally? It’s just coaches talk.

Wrong.

"Coach's talk" is taking the heat upon yourself and shielding your players from it.

"You have to tip your hat to the other team.  I obviously sure didn't do a very good job this week of getting my team prepared to play.  Trust me, me and my staff are going to work twice as hard this week to make sure that doesn't happen again."

THAT'S "coach's talk".

That which you seem to be referring is more commonly known as "throwing your players under the bus".

Then there's the "gosh, its all just a random roll of the dice and there was nothing I could do about it!" talk from our Lovable Mo-Ron which comes out, for example, after his team gets run train by teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers:

Is it his fault Gano missed a FG &extra point

Yes, because Ron wanted "cagey vet" Gano over discount Rookie Butker.

Funch dropped all those passes

Funny, I always thought that Head Coaches had input into the personnel on their own teams and how much time they spent on the field.  I guess I was wrong?

Gettleman was here for four seasons and ran five offseasons. Four of those five years we made the playoffs.

Marty Hurney and Ron Rivera have teamed together for three seasons. Every one of those seasons ended with a losing record.

Prior to Rivera, only three of the eleven years Marty Hurney was paired with John Fox produced winning seasons.

At what point do you accept there being a trend?

Trend yes, correlation unproven.

Riiiight.

I'm sure if we tried hard enough, we could find several incompletions by Jimmy Clausen that weren't really his fault.

Or maybe we could just, you know, get somebody who doesn't throw that many bad passes.

Didn't Gettleman let Josh walk and then draft 3 CB's to cover it? And sign us Kalil to a good awful contract. I think both GM's did some good things and some bad things it's just people want to complain about something. The draft is a crap shoot. Injuries derail a team and player that once showed promise. A lot of this is luck to stay deathly and find a gem here and there.
