Chris Harris and Aggressive Defense

Anyone else noticed since he came back our defense has been hitting harder than before??? I saw 2 good hits Harris put on the ballcarrier, one resulting in an incompletion on what would have been a 1st down and another on the runner where he lowered his shoulder and sent him flying sideways. I like that kind of aggression as it helped set a tone on defense. Thought he deserved recognition. Will we continue to see this kind of aggression throughout the year?

And how did Landon Johnson do in place of Thomas Davis? I saw one good play where he pushed the lineman into the runner and made a tackle for a loss.

Johnson was decidedly "meh" but not as bad as I figured he would be. Still no match for Thomas Davis.

Harris's return has been HUGE for the entire team though, having him on the field is a big boost despite the rumblings amongst some fans that he may be a bit overrated in Pantherland. I'm pretty sure they were proven wrong.

If a change at QB doesn't happen and happen soon, I can see the Defense start to say to hell with it.

Doubt it. Maybe some people (like Peppers), but others such as Davis, Beason, and Harris, I don't see them quitting based on their demeanor and personality. Collectively, they'll play their ass off. Individually, we might see a few lose their way. In that case, get rid of them at the end of the year.

How about that Jonathan Beason stop on Terrell Owens on third down? He ran across the field and put a serious tackle on him.

My second favorite play of the game. (First was Smitty's long catch in the fourth quarter to give us a chance to get back in the game...:()

well, it ain't all Harris though. Improved DT has done a lot for the team...better play has resulted from the entire DL and LBs imo as a result. It would be awesome of Hollis could make it the entire season.

Chris Harris has always been considered one of the best hitters on the team and has some big playmaking ability....he just sucks in coverage.

    • Bryce has been in the NFL 3 years and still looks like a very mediocre QB. Most games are nothing but mediocre plays with a highlight reel every now and then.  He is a very INCONSISTENT QB and it’s very fustrating. He does not deserve a 5th year option, even though the Panthers and all the dumb asses in the front office will give it to him.
    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
