For the love of God.

if you put a rule in,.. just wait for the exploiters,.. cough cough Belicheck.

i could see this rule being gone after a year after Belicheck demolishes some teams with a rule like this,.. kind of like the uncalled undesignated receiver on the line of scrimmage he was messing people up with.

Or when there was press allowed to 10 yards... Belicheck had his corners exploit that to death,.. down with Peyton Manning. Rule changed to 5 yards and feather press,..

If the rule is there you can be a victim and bitch or you can be the exploiter.

I criticize the Pats for plenty, particularly blatant cheating (Spygate!) but if you're not trying to push the limits of the rules on the field then you're not giving yourself your best chance to compete. Everyone should be doing it. Force the refs to set the boundaries in the gray areas of the rules, but pretty much everyone on the field is playing within those gray areas. Everyone knows offensive holding could be called on every play. Defensive holding became a point of emphasis because DLs got the point of ridiculousness holding OGs to keep them from effectively pulling to lead block. Same thing happened with DBs and the emphasis on illegal contact. Force the refs and the NFL rule committee to figure it out, but push the boundaries on the field. The only time I'm against it is when it comes to player safety like the Falcons and their notorious cut blocks or the Saints and they're blatant targeting.

If the rule is there to be exploited, it’s kot cheating— that’s just everyone else’s passive ignorant behavior.

the goal is to win,.. and using every means necessary separates the great from so so. The Patriots consistently beat much more talented teams because everyone else misses details that matter.
