Davidson needs to get off the sidelines

Agreed, but I really don't think Davidson is the problem. I've noticed adjustments week to week and during games. They may not be HUGE adjustments but I can tell he's trying to mix it up. We haven't had an OC that's done ANYTHING remotely close to that for some time. The main problem is, the plays he is having to call most of the time are plays that basically limit Jake, therefore limiting the Offense as a whole. I guarantee that even if a better (but not great) QB is plugged in, then you will see the gloves come off because the QB will be used more.

I'm not sure he is limiting Jake at all, but making play selections based on what is obviously not a reflection of what is happening on the field, particularly in the opponent's secondary.

Look at Byrd's interceptions last Sunday. Both times, the safety was laying in wait, ready to jump the route. He was hanging back there quite a bit, hoping to hawk onto an overthrow. He got what he wanted, but he had been hanging back there for it for play after play. Someone should have seen that from the overhead view and noted the trend.

When someone sees that, they can either adjust the passing scheme away from him or bait him into making a big mistake.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
