Recommended Posts

Hello all.

This coming October and November my girlfriend and I are traveling over from Australia to watch our beloved Panthers beat the 49ers and the Falcons.

We are after some recommendations on the best area to stay in Charlotte and what section of BOA should we get seat in?

Excited to hopefully meet some of you huddlers

cheers

That is awesome.  Happy you can make the trip and delighted you are Panther fans.  Just curious....how did that happen? This is a great team..I am proud of  the character and the purpose of this franchise. I like our new owner and think this team is headed in the right direction.

Welcome to the USA and to North Carolina.  I do not live in Charlotte so I can not help with recommendations.  I want to say i welcome you both as fellow Panther fans.

Thank you so much. So in the mid 2000’s I was pretty into playing madden. There was one player that was my career mode stud. Steve Smith. So I started watching the NFL more and more.  Cam got me in more. Then Luke hooked me. So the last 5 years i haven’t missed a game. We finally get to come over and see them live. Very excited.

Lower bowl is fine, but the upper bowl really isn't that bad either. I feel like you can get a better view of the action up there (it's really not that further "up there"). Maybe do a game in the lower and a game in the upper? Either way, I'd sit on the sides, not the end zones. Also, if you do get an upper seat, make sure to not go above row 20. Just my opinion.

As for things to do in the city, check out https://www.charlotteagenda.com/city-notes-new-movers-guide/. The book has over 200 pages that details the city. They release a new copy every year. It's a good starting point. I would post in the main forum as you get closer. As someone said, you'll get more traffic there.

Depends on how big you're planning to go cost-wise while you're here. I'm guessing that since you're flying for over a day to get here, that you're going to splurge.

I'd stay downtown. Nothing kills the gameday mojo like the commute into and out of downtown. Almost everything cool in Charlotte, that's not IN downtown Charlotte, is a quick rideshare out of downtown. My recommendations for downtown hotels to consider:

The Ritz - pricey, but it's a typical Ritz with Ritz amenities. There's a nice BLT Steak restaurant in the building, and it's on the corner of College and Trade, so there are a lot of restaurant and nightlife options nearby. Great people watching in the bar at night. Have stayed here and can verify that it's a good time. If you stay here, and are a light sleeper, request a room on the side of the building opposite the street, so you won't hear the low hum of club goers and traffic on Trade Street at 2AM.

The Westin - It's on the edge of 'uptown', but it's got its own light rail stop, and it's a straight shot up Stonewall to the stadium. Riding the light rail out to some of the Rail Trail breweries and restaurants is something fun to do as well during your visit. Have stayed here before a game and can verify it's a nice hotel and convenient on game day.

The Kimpton - It's new, so I haven't stayed there, but it's the closest luxury hotel to the stadium currently. It has a really cool rooftop bar.

The Dunhill or The Ivey's Hotel - Two historic, luxury hotels. They're more traditional decor-wise, and they're a few blocks further from the stadium.

You might be able to AirBnB one of the condos near the stadium as well.

For the game, if I had my choice, I'd do 100 level seats, home side, but any 100 level seats will be great. I'd try to stay in the lower half of the 500 level seats if you decide to go upper deck. I've never sat in the Club level seats, so I'll let someone else speak on those. Not sure this is even an option, but I was really surprised how much I disliked watching from a luxury suite when I had the chance. Felt like we were watching it at home, disconnected from the energy of the rest of the crowd/team, which for me is the entire reason to attend a live game.

Check with Roaring Riot on ticket options as I'm sure they have some way to help out of town fans secure good home game seats.

    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
    • Well, if they know Tepper wants to keep Bryce there is an an implied safety net there in case he fails. A possibility that he will be empathetic and •maybe• not fire them.  If they go against that and bring in someone else and that fails they are in a much worse spot.  IMO.  And another factor may be that after all those years of instability and musical chairs pre Bryce there will likely be a feeling of security in knowing what they have.   Kind of like settling just to keep from going through the process all over again.     IOW I think he really needs to fug up bad to lose his job and change our course.
