In a momentous day for North Carolina craft beer, Old Tuffy hit store shelves this week.

The beer is a crisp, crushable lager brewed by craft beer giant New Belgium and N.C. State University, made with water, yeast, hops and surely some Tar Heel tears for added potency.

New Belgium announced Old Tuffy earlier this summer, kicking off a five-year collaboration with N.C. State, which could extend into the future through a mutual option. The beer is available statewide and a portion of sales will go toward N.C. State’s fermentation science program, meaning North Carolina’s next generation of brewers.

This is just rebranded Old Aggie. They could've at least done something original. My guess is that it probably tastes like UNC inferiority complex.

I had it. Just basically a pilsner. Better than anything cheap though.

Well they have a beer. Something UNC does not have. Even App State has one now.

I feel bad for people graduating with those degrees. The craft beer bubble is going to pop soon. There will be more and more buyouts by big beer and retail shelf space is going to be harder and harder to get for those not under an umbrella. The local brewpub market will continue to be strong, but if you're an up and coming brewery trying to distribute, good luck.

Yeah, me and my buddies were looking at starting a business. But that market is so flooded now, no way.

    • Got to give some credit to the coaching staff on these. You can grab top talents but without good coaching, they just fizzle out. We've seen that a lot around here.
    • Oh, no TV for tonight's game unless you have the NHL Network, I believe. I could be wrong, hopefully?
    • Early returns are great and exciting but also worth noting that Gettleman had a few drafts that looked incredible early on and wound up mostly sucking (2014 mainly). Also PFF; grain of salt, etc.    I'm completely sold on Tet being a stud, knocked a high pick out of the park like we needed to and always should. Nearly sold on Scourton. Not sold on Princely but he had flashes. Not sold on Etienne as more than a 3rd stringer and special teamer, but that's not terrible for his draft position. Big fan of Ransom and think he'll be a starter.  Cam Jackson : IDK, I see limited upside but we didn't see much of him Evans was a nice find for draft position and he had a great rookie year for a late round rookie TE with plenty of veteran competition. Not sure about his upside though, seems like best case is a long term #2/3 TE, which isn't bad. Jimmy Horn, personally I didn't see a damn thing from him that impressed me all year. And he got a lot of opportunities. Pulling for the kid, but not convinced he's an NFLer.   UDFA: Fitzgerald was an amazing find
