Kyle Allen is an inexperienced but good backup qb who is learning!

...so wait. what is the implication here?  That Cam is lying to everyone, does not have that injury, and the Panthers are covering it up? lol

Why would Cam lie about that?

I didnt say Cam lied.

I simply said there has never been any official confirmation of a Lisfranc disagnosis.

Your question is a good one...why wouldn't the Panthers confirm that?

If I want to know something about another team, I look for information from their best beat writer.

National guys are great for breaking news, but if you want in depth analysis you need to go to a specialist, not a general practitioner.

I concur, their best beat writer and then the fans themselves. Alot of times you can figure out the smart fans that know what they are talking about.

I love how all the cam huggers love to trash Allen after one game. Like Cam didn't look horrible with the same line against the Bucs.

Again that's not what this thread was here to do, theres plenty to be excited for about Allen. Currently the game is too fast for him, he will get better however Cam, unless injured, will most likely always be the better option. Over the 8 pages of this thread if you read it, there has been very little Allen bashing. That narrative is played out most at least in this thread like both qbs.

Well looks like we might get to see exactly how far Kyle can progress if what we are hearing about Cam is true. Not happy if its next year before we see Cam play and all over a stupid pre season snap playing behind an incohesive oline. Ive been a optomist bit Rivera better field a top 5 D or i want he and Norvs heads.

We're to the point now where we all better hope that Allen is better than a lot of people think he is.

That is unless you're in favor of tanking.

(and for the record, tanking is bullsh-t)

I think this team is good enough to win all but the hardest games with the current Allen being a game manager but i do feel in game experience is the best. I think he will improve every game ever so slightly and eventually the gsme will slow. However even with the news today wich I think Cam is just not healing as fast as hed like will be back with in the next 4 games or so. I really want him back before the saints game.

This week's been a downward spiral for me on that front.

I started the week believing we'd probably see Newton play against Green Bay.

After the news that he still wasn't practicing, I thought the timetable might get pushed back a few weeks.

Today's news made me think it was going to be even longer than that.

Things I've read since then have made me start to question whether he's going to play this season at all.

Our D gave up a lot of points last game.  The way I see us winning is keeping teams below 20 points.  Get back on the sack train and ride it all the way to a wildcard, then hope to score an upset in the playoffs.  That’s how I see it.

I would 100% agree with this philosiphy if our defense did not have so much talent. I believe the the game was an outlier not a constant. I think we will see a great improvement each week until thr unit is elite as long as the offense at least keeps them off the field some. They have already put us in scoring situations and great field position other the 9rs game all season.

We were in 0-2 hole(two winnable games), Allen  steps in and starts winning putting us back into playoff conversation.  I would like to thank him for that, there is still hope for this season.  I think it’s time for Allen vs Cam civil war to end, we are all behind the designated starter for next week.  Let’s go keep pounding.

    • Given that the immediate impact we need at edge. We almost certainly address that in Free agency, not in the draft. Same with Linebacker, unless Styles or Allen is still there at 19. I think the same for OT.  What is the position that we could draft in the 1st round and get immediate help in the first is how im approaching their decision-making  I know ill get dragged for this, but im thinking they go DT in the first. A guy that can play right away and be a complement to D.Brown to wreak havoc at the LOS.   So unless a top tier LB is there, I think DT will be the move.
    • I think people forget that by his last season Steve Smith had the ass and he played like it - and for no really good reason other than that other stars were emerging on the team and he didn't want to share the spot light.  He was more of a locker room distraction than he was worth. He went on to have great performances with the Ravens' but G-man made the right move allowing him to move on from here.  I personally think it was addition by subtraction and we don't have a super bowl run with Smith on the roster. Steve Smith remains a narcissist who I've never seen internalize his own culpability when it comes to his relationships with others - it's always somebody else's fault as to why he was forced to act like an asshole. This video is a product ad.  I'm cringed that either of these two Panther greats are party to it.
    • I think the ‘issue’ here is that we had two guys that clashed for several reasons. In some ways they were different, but in other ways they had a lot in common, and sadly they couldn’t see the forest for the trees. Sometimes when you have two people like that together they are either going to love or hate each other, and if it’s the latter, you need someone to mediate and hope the two individuals are capable of putting their differences aside for the common good. In this instance, they couldn’t find a way to move forwards together because I don’t think either guy wanted to play second fiddle to the other. This video basically said neither guy had the tools to bridge that gap and mend that fence, and perhaps also were unwilling to give an inch at that stage in their lives and careers. So a divorce, while unfortunate, was always likely. Do we win the Super Bowl with Smitty and Cam? Well, it’s one of life’s big what ifs for us Panthers fans.
