6-7 million? You better check the LB contracts again. Guys are making 16-17 a year

I wouldn't pay Shaq Thompson 16 million if I was a GM.  Hell I would let him walk after this year.  Been in system for 5 years.  Last 2 years he has played more due to TD's penalty to taking a banned substance and the release of TD this year.  Still seems lost on the field and sure can't tackle either.  There was a reason he was benched when it came to 3rd down.  Using another analogy he doesn't play under control.

Guilty since week 7

I know mocks this far out mean absolutely squat, but I had to laugh at one I looked from Draftwire.  It's a 4-round mock--in order: CB, QB, DL, WR.  The corner was based on losing Bradberry in FA.  If so, maybe, but the rest of that mock is hilarious.

Like I said before, blame  the DL. I was a Shaq hater the last 3 years before this season. But always thought he was the best tackler out of the lb group. He wraps up and drive guys to the ground. This season, Shaq looked real good until the dL collapsed.

I wouldn’t doubt that not happening. Bradberry may be too much for us to afford. Even though I think he’s the 3rd best CB in FA behind Marcus Peters and Jimmy Smith, Bradberry may still get at least 15m. I would not go more than 13-14 mil to keep Bradberry. Kristin Fulton has been up and down in mocks. Seen him in the 2nd round in some. CJ Henderson from UF is a stud.

I can see that, but Jackson scares me.  He relies on his speed to make up for poor technique.  I saw that coming out of college.  Jackson has to start getting better fundamentally or I think the team has no choice but to pony-up for Bradberry.  Jackson and a rookie as our potential starting corners makes me more than a little nervous!

So the question begs, does the team try to extend the window one more year or blow this thing up and go into rebuild mode?  A loaf of Swiss cheese has less holes than this roster going into next season.  I think it would only delay the inevitable, so for older players that still have some value, get what we can and move on.  If we plug and play one more season, sure we could be good enough to make the playoffs, but solid enough for a Super Bowl run?  Nah, that's just a pipe dream.

I am ready to give up on Jackson.  Maybe a release my help him grow up some.  Has a load of potential but too unreliable with his mental break downs.

Oh I agree but this is a cap space league. Sometimes you just gotta go with what you can afford.
