Object Lesson: An Empty Trophy Case

I mean, if you walked in every day saying something like "hey guys, remember that championship trophy you don't have?!" you'd probably annoy people and they'd think you were a douche.

However, by putting this trophy case there, Tepper can effectively say that without having actually say it.

You get the motivational factor without the douchebag factor.

I'm tired of the "we don't want to embarrass them" mentality. If you can score 50, score 50 damn it!

The very picture of mediocrity. Two NFC Championships in 25 years.

Completely disagree.  How many teams have multiple conference championships in the last 25 years?  Wait, I'll help.  12.  If the Panthers are mentioned in the company of the 49ers, Ravens, Rams, Seahawks, Steelers, Patriots, Packers, Broncos, Falcons, Eagles, Colts, Giants . . . that's good company.

There are more teams who have NOT won a single conference championship in the last 25 years than who have won it at least once.  Winning that conference crown it not mediocre.  It's not average.  Wining it twice is well above average.

Our problem is exactly what Tepper said.  Consistency.  We need to be in the playoff race most seasons, instead of every 2 or 3 years.

The Panthers have had teams with a lot of talent - generational talent in the likes of Peppers, Kuechly and now McCaffrey. Somehow, the Panthers have managed to turn that talent into a mediocre bunch who cannot have back-to-back winning years. Yes, two NFC championships are fine, but the Panthers have consistently under-performed based upon their talent. That's the definition of mediocrity. They should have more than two with the talent the teams have had.

This.  It is expected to be contenders with this kind of talent on the roster.

Maybe, maybe not.

The Greatest Show On Turf was clearly an incredibly talented group, and yet they only had two championship game wins.  There are numerous examples of teams with exceptional talent who don't have multiple championship game wins.
