I’d be surprised if Tepper hired any college coach without some kind of NFL experience.  Rhule has a few years with the Giants and Ryan Day was QB coach for Chip Kelly for 2 quick years with Philly/49ers.  Lincoln Riley /Fitzgerald/Kelly and Dabo have none. It can be a definite advantage to know the orchard that’s producing the fruit.  Probably the best college hire in the last decade was Pete Carroll who had many years of HC in both college and the NFL.  When he came back into the league he brought a valuable data base of player evaluations which served as the basis for their  defense for years.

If Tepper wants to go after a college coach, he should pursue the elephant in the room....Saban.   His time in Miami was flawed when the medical team wouldn’t clear Brees and he went to NO. Give him the same contract that Gruden got.  Coaching salaries don’t count against the cap so if it doesn’t work out, it’s just money.

Saban is almost 70, he isn’t coming back to the NFL nor would I support that.
