NFL playing format Vs. NHL/NBA/MLB?

Multiple themes here but want to get your opinion. Most important is from the player’s perspective.  Will players be able to create excitement for 16 RS weeks?  Week one, sure, but running into empty stadiums will eventually take a toll. Hopefully we can get fans back in, but imagining things are even half normal by the Super Bowl is a long shot. This is the START of a season in massive, empty stadiums. Plus we don’t have the advantage of resuming play entering the playoffs, like the NHL.
It comes down to whether players can generate the energy required.  I personally think it all depends on team chemistry and coaching to create that energy  There is a reason the NHL and NBA decreased the empty space in their already smaller arenas playing on much smaller playing surfaces. The NHL is so fast, and is played nonstop, unless a penalty or rule violation occurs, plus massive hits and bare knuckle fighting is allowed and encouraged, so adrenaline/energy build in long periods between stops in play, allowing it to work very well. Plus, well, It’s the Playoffs...

The NBA less so, it consistently lacks energy, and while great plays by great players manage to elevate the excitement occasionally, you can actually sense the empty arena.  I don’t watch MLB but it seems that it’s been a mixed result, and if it weren’t for Joe Kelly would be a pretty blah season. Not to mention the NFL will be the first league to return in a full un-adjusted season format.  It’s gonna be a poo show, but it needs to be a fair one.  This is something the NFL needs to address if it wants to be successful. Team chemistry will be more important than ever this year.  I personally think more than any other sport, fan presence has the largest effect on football.  You can pump in noise on an equal level, but the player visual changes, and the success will depend on team cohesion and ability to generate excitement.

I think they will do pretty well. At least with the NFL there are 60 players and coaches cheering you on. 

 

Here is an idea... put the friends and families of the team live up on the big screens whenever a big play is made. That would be something.

I don't think you give professional athletes enough credit. They know how to play without fans. They don't need them. Do they like them? Sure. But yeah, they'll be just fine.

Hell, put friends and family in their own sectioned off seating.
