Things We Think We Think...

Like most I am pleasantly surprised with the team's growth all things considered, that was a good win from a team that has legit talent at the key positions...

Offense:

Even before the season I thought with the addition of a guy like Robby to legitimize the receiving corps and adding a fresh young mind at play-caller we'd be able to score with anyone as we could boast as good a skill group as anyone - CMC, DJ, Anderson, Samuel

The real surprise in the mix was Teddy, I liked him in MIN, and we saw him as a Saints back-up, but aside from Week 2 and even in that game, he's showing why he was also a 1st round QB to begin with, aside from the top of 2018 before Cam's injury our passing game hadn't been this crisp. Two weeks in a row Mike Davis has carried the load well, and is honestly reminiscent of Stewart, a thick short build that is hard to bring down. I hope we see a blend alongside CMC once he's healthy.

Defense:

Defensively we were all concerned, but Rasul needs to be given some credit, he's allowed DJ to stick with the smaller quicker DBs, and has allowed Pride / Elder to play the nickel. Apple returning also adds depth / experience to that unit. Burris and Boston have been good as well, but the real surprise is how well the defensive line is starting to play once again Brown was in the opposing offenses backfield stuffing the run, and Burns and Matos continue to be as advertised, and to top it all off Chinn is starting to look like a DROY candidate, he is quite literally the definition of a ''swiss army knife'' he's been at safety, linebacker, and slot and has been impressive.

As this unit continues to get more reps under them could we really be what the potential has shown these last two games? Phil Snow you son of ***** what you've started to mold is looking good, I'm not seeing 10 yard cushions on the perimeter, and I'm seeing a mix of coverage and pressure, with the Saints stumbling out the gate, the Falcons being much worse than expected, and the Buccaneers looking like just another good team, could we really make a push??

See me in a few weeks, but if we keep trending upward, we might **** and surprise some damn people!

The next 4 weeks are critical to the trajectory of the season.

The Falcons game next week is critical. Falcons are going to be desperate for a win against a team they typically own. The Panthers could end their season with a win.

Then, the Bears are very beatable the week after that too. Foles or Trubisky, it doesn't matter. Both make mistakes and without Tarik Cohen, their offense lacks a game breaker.

Then we get a showdown with the Saints that could be one of the best games of the season for this young team. Will Joe Brady cook up a scheme to beat his mentor? Or will Payton have all the tricks up his sleeve to stop Brady's offense?

Then, the Falcons again on a short week in what will be a grudge match for one team.

It's going to be interesting. We could be 2-6 and wondering where it all went wrong. But come out of that stretch at 5-3 or 6-2, and you're competing for a playoff spot. I expect 4-4, with wins against the Falcons the second time and Bears, heading to a 7-9/8-8 season, but still showing promise.

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
    • Well I guess he should stop playing football. This was his defining moment and chance to prove he was generational and he failed. What a waste of football life..
