"Winners of five games in a row, the Carolina Hurricanes begin a two-game set against the Nashville Predators.

The Match-Up

Nashville Predators (11-14-0, 22 points) vs. Carolina Hurricanes (17-6-1, 35 points)

Tuesday, March 9, 7 p.m.

Watch: FOX Sports Carolinas, FOX Sports GO

Listen: 99.9 FM The Fan, Hurricanes.com/Listen, Hurricanes app

35: The Canes have amassed their best record (17-6-1) and most points (35) through 24 games in franchise history.

9: The Canes have won nine of their last 10 games against the Predators and are 13-3-1 in the last 17 games between the last two teams.

The Opposition

Last five games: 2-3-0, 6 points
On the road: 4-7-0, 8 points
CAR vs. NSH: 2-0-0
Leading scorer: Filip Forsberg, 26 points (10g, 16a) in 25 games

Since these two teams met in Nashville a week ago, the Predators lost consecutive games at home to the Florida Panthers before hitting the road and claiming a 4-3 shootout win over the Dallas Stars. That wasn't without its drama, though. The Stars scored three goals in 6:33 late in regulation to erase a 3-0 deficit, but Pekka Rinne, Filip Forsberg and Roman Josi helped the Preds recover in the shootout."

Injuries: Gardiner (upper body), Mrazek (right thumb), Teravainen (concussion symptoms)

TT sounds like he's going to be a bit longer with how Rod was talking, no update on Mrazek that I caught. Gardiner dealing with this lingering back issue. So Back to Fleury/Bean Kinda wish Rod would put Necas back up with Aho though. Ned gets the start.

Ned has been playing lights out.  Svech is out of his drought. Aho, Nino, Necas and Staal are all on fire. Made it through the crucible of our schedule in great position. And, finally got a little rest.

I feel a storm coming...

Even predators run from hurricanes. We're a force of nature.

    • Does this mean only topics from within the last year or any topics with posts from the last year? i.e. if there are any old threads we feel should be kept around for whatever reasons, would a bump of that thread before the update ensure it's kept around in full or do the posts from more than a year old still disappear?
    • I'm more intrigued at him becoming our future LG. There were some people who thought he was better suited to be a guard in the NFL to begin with.  Then if Freeling ends up being a legit LT, moving Ickey to LG could give us an incredibly strong left side of our OL for years to come. Ickey has only played on the Left side his whole career, both in college and the NFL, so I just wonder if keeping him on the left side, even if shifting inside, would be better than putting him outside on the right side. Just hoping him growing up a Panthers fan will make him want to stay here and move positions than enter FA so he can stay at LT somewhere else, particularly since LT is the big money position on the OL, so he likely can get paid more by someone else to play LT than play LG or RT here for us.
