The bright spots. We got the point and still control our destiny for up to 2 more losses(more depending on how many Tampa and Florida lose) and our call ups played solid. I actually really liked Lorentz on the first line, he’s really trying to prove he deserves to be on the roster. He’s no Fast in terms of play style who compliments Aho well but he did bring fire and energy.

Aho played his ass off last night too.

I chalk that loss up to coaching as much as anything else. We tried to sit back in the third, that didn’t work. We gave up too many breakaways overall. Ned flat out was out of gas by the start of the third and we should have pulled him. And starting Svech-Tro in overtime Vs. Barkov just not a smart move. Should have had Aho-Lorentz(Tro)-(Pesce/Slavin) out there. No knock on Svech or Tro. Just needed shutdown guys on Barkov then get shooters out there once he was off the ice.

If Ned hadn’t have played 3 games in 5 days that game would have been in the bag easy. At least now we know though.

    • Yeah... One bad game for Bryce meaning he's not a pro and should be replaced, after a strong finish to last season is a little premature. But the clock has started for sure. If anything, we've seen that he needs to do something to have a better start to the season. That is not sustainable.  Truth. The team ain't ready. The defense ain't ready. Derrick Brown didn't even look good. Just because you throw a lot of resources into a position group doesn't mean you've magically fixed it. And saying the team is using resources to make a specific QB look serviceable is insane to me. If they're using draft picks at a position, it means they didn't have good players at that position. If they're using free agency to get good players at a position, it means they didn't have good players at that position. It IS NOT to make the QB look serviceable. It's to make the TEAM look serviceable. Football isn't a sport where money necessarily fixes the problem either. I remember the Panthers spent a lot of money on the brother of another olineman, and that was a complete disaster. Paid a lot of money to a HC that was fired half way through his first season and no other team hired him, even though there has been unusually high HC turnover in the NFL. Throwing high draft picks at a position doesn't mean you fixed the problem either. Remember Kelvin Benjamin and Funchess with Cam? Mingo, Marshall... I think after week 4 we'll have a better idea of what we have. This is an extremely young and new group of receivers. The only receiver out there that had ever caught a pass from BY last Sunday was XL. And he wasn't exactly in prime form. I guess if you want to count J. Sanders and Tremble, then... Ok.
    • Bryce sucks, but he has been throwing it downfield somewhat consistently over the last year.  12th in ADOT in Week 1, last year he was 5th/27th among QBs with at least 50% of their teams dropbacks (only Herbert, Love, Darnold, and Lamar Jackson were ahead).  He was 2nd in Big Time Throw % too. Last week he had 4 20+ yard throws (0 completions) and 9 10-19 yards.  Compare that to say, Jared Goff, who was in a similar spot last week as far as needing his team to rally and score - he only had 1 throw of 20+ yards and 6 10-19 yards. So Bryce is definitely a poor downfield thrower, but he has been a willing one, especially since returning from his benching.
    • We are in the craper and will be until this team has more talent and better coaching. They have a long way to go.
