Possibility

The thread is titled "possibility". If you don't like it, don't post in it. It's really that simple. Davidson has to be on the short list of coordinators considered for head coaching jobs around the league. I didn't say it was likely he would get another job. Del Rio got a head gig after one year on the job. Trgovac never got a sniff despite six or seven years on the job.

All I'm saying is IF Davidson gets the call, don't be surprised if Weiss lands on his feet in Carolina.

If Davidson gets a head coaching job this offseason, your next offensive coordinator will be.....Charlie Weis. He and Fox are tight.

This is actually one of the first things I thought of when I started hearing speculation about Weis being fired from Notre Dame.

I look at it from a different scenario though. My take was to wonder whether Fox might fire Davidson in order to hire Weis. If the season were to finish on a down note, it doesn't strike me as farfetched (assuming Fox keeps his job in that circumstance).

Questions I have:

It's likely Weis would get other offers, maybe even one to come back to NE. Would the Panthers job offer enough to lure him?

And let's say you get Weis. Do you continue with Delhomme, or make a move to get a young QB (perhaps even Jimmy Clausen)?

It's not so farfetched.

If Davidson's contract is up (and no one generally keeps track of these things) he could simply be allowed to walk or might get a job as an OC or OL coach with someone else.

Whether or not you buy the angle that he could get a head coaching job, Davidson not being Panthers OC next season is not farfetched, not at all.

    • He's handing off play calling duties to fuging Brad Idzik as well so, either that mouth breather can run the playbook and Canales can grow as an all around head coach or it will be a horrible decision and both of them and BY can screw off. I'm fine with that as long as it isn't just another excuse for BY to get another year with another coach worthy of working around his limitations as a qb.
    • Not only for Andersen but the whole team, having not beat the Habs this season before tonite.  Shows them that they aren't jinxed.
    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
