42 pass attempts....

Is it really too much to ask for our QB to able to nail a couple deep throws a game? What kind of a QB is that then? Not starting quality that's for sure. The play calling can only cradle Jakes ass so much. Can't really ask more of Davidson to do, besides screen passes because we never run those.

It's funny though because if Jake would have hit Smitty on those 2 deep passes, and if he actually hit him in stride that one play over the middle we have had 2-3 more touchdowns and everyone would be saying how great the playcalling was.

I'd still say throwing deep on 3 and 1 was stupid even if it had connected. I'd probably just be quieter about it.

I agree it's not Davidson's fault that Jake sucks, but as an OC you can't keep calling pass play after pass play, while crossing your fingers hoping your average quarterback suddenly turns into Jake Montana during the game. The roster's already set. You have to work with what you got. Davidson did not.

But if we did that I would make the argument that we would have just had more 3 and outs. Personally I think he's already working with what he's got. Weak QB play and WR drops make us an anemic offense and the only time the O was showing progress was when we went into no huddle and actually tried to score. The whole game it looked like we were just settling for less until around the 5 min mark in the 4th qtr.

Teams throw more when they're behind. That stat is the same for almost any QB.

Not necessarily. Some teams have offenses built around the passing game, they pass much more often than they run, and they are successful at it. What is undeniable is that WE do throw much more when we trail, especially late. Also, the stats presented were for Jake's entire tenure here in Carolina, certainly, there have been stretches of time within some seasons where we had no real running attack due to injuries, so passing was the only realistic choice.

Jake is so in-accurate he makes Al Gore look good.

He is still inspirational though, after seeing Jake play this year, I just may try out for an NFL team next year.

Even though I haven't thrown a football in quite a long time and only weigh 165lbs,I'm going to try out for QB in the NFL,say, the Browns need a good QB,Panthers do too!Your an inspiration Jake, thanks!;)

Dwill=122 yards in only 13 carries! But Foxy and Davidson opt to throw the ball 42 times w/a below ave QB!AH,HELLO!!!Remember the game against the Bills? We would have beaten the tar out of the Bills if we ran the ball more! The Dolphins might be better at run stuffing, but D Will did have 122 yards in only 13 carries,I personnaly would have stuck w/the run!No adjustments during halftime, sound familiar? You Fox defenders can expect more of that, and if Fox stays coach for years to come, expect to relive the Seifert era or worse!I blame the coaching staff more than Jake Delhomme! Also,I can't really blame Meeks on all that horrible tackeling, that is something the D should have learned back in pop warner league! Our special teams is abysmal, that coach needs to be canned! The Panthers should be at least 6-4 right now, which would have put them in the thick of the hunt, now they are 4-6 and only a little bit better than the Browns!

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
