The TT goal line save was insane, but Slavin's sliding save at the goal was just as ridiculous.

Both of those are highlight quality for the rest of the season.

The best part is those are goals we let through during our slump. But our defensive play is back to 1st 10 game form making saves like that when our goalie is out of position. We really need to get back to the US though and get Pesce & TDA in the game so Slavin can stop doing 30 minute games. I know Slavin is a beast but this ice time is gonna wear on him.

I read this morning that Slavin set a personal record for ice time the other night with 29+ minutes of ice time, only to break his own record last night by going 32+ minutes.

Not only did the Canes survive 2 difficult games, but they're doing it without of 2 of their top 4 defensemen.

Glad Tripp finally called out the officiating last night. Not sure anyone other than local watchers will have seen it, but he was spot on. The Canes are among the league leaders in puck possession time, yet they're also one of the most penalized teams. How does that work unless the refs are just going out of their way to scrutinize the Canes more than other teams? How does KK catch a 2-minute for cross checking and after he took a legitimate hit, yet Slavin doesn't get the call when he did the same thing and got cross checked a couple times in retaliation?

Calgary had 5 power plays last night. 4 of them were nerve-wracking as hell. Only 1 did Carolina seem to handle with ease.

Let's be honest, Calgary had the same puck luck last night the Canes experienced during their short losing streak. No bounces went their way and they had more than a couple open chances last night.

I leave you with my highlight of the night (Aho's OT winner aside). Watch this Slavin/Aho save when Anderson got caught out of position.

I don’t even understand what Freddie is doing there. It’s like his brain just seized up after he was out of position.

    • fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally
    • Amazing what the prospect of being traded to Carolina will do for contract negotiations.
    • 5 Im glad football is back but after the embarrassment that was the browns pre season game where our starting D made Sanders look like a serviceable NFL QB, I lost hope again for a successful Panthers campaign this year.  I do hope I’m wrong!
