Should Mike Vick Join Panthers?

Why are people bashing this idea? Sure, the kid's a moron, but if we had signed Vick in the offseason and given him control of the offense, we'd have a better record than 4-6 right now and would still be in the playoff chase.

Highlighted the correct part.

And yeah, let's give "control of the offense" to a guy who always needed 'one more year' to learn the West Coast Offense

(Boomer Esaiason once said, regarding this notion, "How hard is it to learn to throw a slant?")

I love when people suggest our offense would be 'unstoppable' with Vick mixed in. With no passing threat, it would be quite easily stoppable (not that much different than what we have now, really).

You guys honestly think that Vick would have played more poorly than Jake has this season? No starting quarterback in the league can currently say that they've played worse than Jake has, I find it highly unlikely that Vick would.

Pick me pick me. I think Vick would have done worse. The only receiver he could find consistantly was larger than any receiver we have, and that was before his extended sabbatical from football. The few pass attempts of his I've seen this year make Delhomme look like a lock for the pro bowl.

Unreal, simply unreal.

We have the worst starting quarterback in the league and you guys are STILL too afraid to entertain the notion that we passed up someone that would have performed better than he has done.

With Jake Delhomme on November 24th, we have the worst starting quarterback in the league and no chance at the playoffs. Are you saying that the same would have been true if Vick had been the starter from Opening Day on?

Seriously guys, I thought we were past this.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
