Our strong suit this year(or last) has never been the first period. That said, i want to see the rook, I want to see if he’s up to the hype levels or if the he’s still a season away. I want to see if he can inject some energy into this team or if Staal is the only source we have left. I’m sorry Raanta(and Rod) but screw your confidence, we are in DC mode right now.

The playoffs are set already have been pretty much since we went to break..   You have to get past the same teams no matter what, even without home Ice you are guarenteed two home games per series.

I think Tripp is correct listening to him talk. This team doesn’t have a true goal scorers . Svech and Aho can score but we don’t have someone that is an absolute true goal scorer on this team. We rely on throwing everything at the net hoping we get a redirect or dirty goal.

Wait for the playoffs when the refs swallow the whistles... it's dirty goals only across the league. I don't agree with that one being a team based off pressure and forcheck you are gonna throw everything on Net..... Aho Svech are definitely true goal scorers (Jarvis probably will be shortly as well) Necas Is more of a passer (playmaker) as is Turbo although when he shoots he's got a helluva a shot.

I didn’t say we were done. The Rangers are beating the Islanders three to nothing after the first. We can’t score and raanta Sucks.

So? whoop dee do? Even after the break we are the best third period team in the NHL. Have you seen the Penguins or Lightning's record in the last ten? Any team that's won a playoffs series in the last 30 years is playing half speed right now.

This isn’t just half speed though. Yes it’s a contributing factor. But we have some unquestionable holes that aren’t being filled.

Ok

We will see, I just see a team not playing within our system at the moment...

It's worth noting that going into the playoffs hot is overrated out of the last five Stanley Cup Champions the only one to enter the playoffs with better than a .500 record over their last ten was the St. Louis Blues.

Literally been saying this for years. After Svech's second season.

    • Oh yeah the QB is huge in this stuff. Imagine what Smitty could have done with a surgeon back there. And some more offensive minded head coaches. It was always run heavy. He was one of the best I ever saw and people didn’t know who he was outside of Carolina, for the longest time.
    • For sure, any college scout that touted Bryce Young as worth the first overall pick, needs to be gone. I don’t think the college scouts are so much the issue, I think it is the minds of the decision makers that have the most influence.  If this draft produces, and Morgan was really in charge, maybe Tepper will develop some respect and stay back and let people work.
    • I just am not aware of regimens that offer increased velocity which is the biggest weakness I can see in Young (that needs addressing right now). Is it possible to do? Who has done it that we can see as an example? I guess I am saying before I believe weights will give him added zip on the ball, I would want proof that it works.    I think weight room would help him not be pulled down by two fingers, even if they are big strong DL fingers. They are still fingers controlling 185 lbs. So that needs to be addressed but it is a secondary issue behind his footwork and ball velocity. It might help too, in allowing him to retain some velocity while not putting 100% effort into throws. Which should help his ‘deep’ ball.  I agree they can’t fix his footwork on those pistol or gun snaps where he slowly goes backwards and does the tippy toe thing.  Maybe putting him under center and taking the option of that type of drop away from him, forcing him into the classic under center style. Drop and plant and throw. Maybe that would help get around it.
