Fox said he considered switching to Matt Moore during the game, but decided against it.

“There was discussion about it,” said Fox. “But overall, we felt like Jake was the best guy to be in there for what we were doing in this game, and that’s what we did.”

What, does Jake throw a "prettier" int than Moore?

well....there is some hope (from the same article):

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Carolina Panthers coach John Fox said he’ll evaluate the entire offense and consider possible lineup changes, including at quarterback, after Sunday’s 17-6 loss to the New York Jets.

“We’ve got to look hard at who’s out there, what we’re doing and get better,” said Fox. “I think we’ll look at the whole offense. At the end of the day, we weren’t productive enough to win.”

.

.

.

Asked if he thought the Panthers’ reluctance to turn to Moore reflected a lack of confidence in the third-year quarterback, Fox said, “I don’t think that’s accurate.”

that's the most positive thing he has said about moore all year.

But Jake IS the best QB on the roster...for the opposing team!

I truly hate that it has come to this and I truthfully feel sorry for Jake. I blame Fox for this season...he cannot adjust what other teams do, he runs the same plays, he quits running the ball when Dlo is killing it(MIA and BUF).

And he still employs Danny Crossman.

Don't feel sorry for Jake. He's just a responsible for what's happening as fox is. When we play no huddle, 80% of the plays he calls are HIS plays regardless of position. Jake believes that he deserve to play. He thinks that what he has done is more important than what he is doing now. Think about it, how many times do you think Jake has gone to fox and said "hey I'm not playing well and i'm destroying our team. I think maybe I should step done for the good of our team and we should see what Matt can do. If Moore or AJ don't do well than i'll come back in." Instead I'm sure it sounds more like " I can do it coach. I'm really not that bad. I promise you I'll get better. Remember I'm the one who brought you to the Super Bowl, six years ago, not Moore."

    • Jake in his prime was a gutsy QB. But just like with even someone like Cam. Father time is undefeated. It's very unfortunate we have a guy who is only 24 years old that has an equivalent arm to that. Absolutely blows my mind that our brain trust lacked the basic common sense to value arm talent when making a massive trade with ramifications for years to come. Unforgivable incompetence.
    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
