Jon Beason Arrested?!

I know pro athletes are just regular guys like us and susceptible to the same vices that we may be exposed to, but to a greater extent b/c of money and accessibility... That's the part that bothers me about this - is I hope that the "doing coke" part is not true. I don't hold them to any higher expectations than anyone else, as I'm sure we all know someone with a drug habit... but, these guys have a lot more to lose. I just hope that part is false...

Can you just imagine how damn stupid you'd have to be to pick a fight with a guy like Beason? He's lucky it's not his widow that's pressing charges.

With the substance abuse policy that the league has adopted, I would rate it highly unlikely that Beason would have gone this long with a coke problem.

There's a fair amount of evidence that the "victim" here is a nimrod. No shock there. Still, hate to say it folks, but there's loads of jackholes in this world. And no matter how much of an a$$ they make of themselves, it's still against the law to punch them out.

If it can be shown that it's all crap, I'll be very happy.

Should he be kicked off the team? No. Not even a consideration.

However, IF Beason did it, it's quite possible he'll pay a penalty and receive a league suspension. The penalty would likely be minor. The league penalty worries me, though.

Could be one game, but I could also see Goodell going as high as four games. yeah, this season is pretty much in the can, but the timing is such that a suspension could wind up happening next season instead. And who knows whether it might happen at a really inopportune time?

All in all, while I can sympathize with a guy wanting to clock a jerk who's acting like a tool, Beason is a high profile guy with a lot to lose.

You have to be smarter than that.

Okay this is a major trip for me. I have known Greg since College. We used to be best friends but he is a total bullshitter. You guys that say you know him know me. I am the hawaiian guy that used to be at the bars with him and a bunch of mutual friends. Sad to say all of us mutual friends are not around him anymore because he acts like this. He does pull this Panther card scam been doing it for years. Hell i got pictures of him and Shockey when he played with the Giants posing in photos together at a club in Miami. He started this fight guys to get paid. And believe me he will. He is a pro at it. It's sad to see him stoop this low..

From all the posts it seems Beason got suckered into this confrontation. And frankly it is his fault for for being such a stooge. This isn't the first time someone has set up a rich high profile guy for a payday. It happens all the time. Beason has to be smarter than that or it will happen again. In the end no matter who started it, if Beason gets convicted he will be the one paying as well as the team. Jon needs to know that he is a target just because of who he is.

If there is ANY suspicion of drug use, a simple drug test will put that to rest.

Plain and simple. I seriously doubt that is the case with Beason, and will be very heartbroken if it is true.

LOL on WCNC just now - reporter ran into Beason's attorney at the courthouse a bit ago and asked about the situation, the attorney replied "It is what it is"

greg is alot of fun to hang out with when he is not in panther mode. guy is seriously funny with some great stories. i wonder if he did his "swole tucks" before all this happened. you will know what that is i am sure.

Seriously?

Tommie Harris can punch a player right there on the field for the adoring public to see with no suspension but Beason gets accused of punching a known troublemaker and we are worried about a suspension?

I think it is a little early to be lumping Beason in with Henry, Vick, Jones and Tank Johnson.
