Last Time Out: The Canes arrived in California already having started their road trip with two wins and Saturday night they made it a third. Brady Skjei scored just 4:01 in for the visitors and Martin Necas doubled the team's lead before the end of the first. Sebastian Aho made it 3-0 in the second and thanks to some more quality goaltending from Pyotr Kochetkov, Carolina was able to withstand a third period push by the Kings. Andrei Svechnikov added a fourth goal for Rod Brind'Amour's club and the team was able to close out a 4-2 victory from there.

Turbo Is Back: Another victory within the team's victory was the return of forward Teuvo Teravainen. After missing 10 games due to an upper-body injury, #86 played 15:47 in his return, registering two shots, one block and one takeaway. Prior to his injury he had produced four assists in four games.

Cookin' On The Power Play: Martin Necas' 12th goal of the year on Saturday came on the power play, at the time improving Carolina's run to six for their last 14. They've now published a power play goal in four of their last five games.

Hot Hand In Net: Pyotr Kochetkov stopped 31 of 33 shots faced in net at Cyrpto.com Arena, earning his fifth win of the season. He has now won each of his last three games played (11/29-12/3), marking the longest win streak by any Canes netminder this season, and he has posted a .934 save percentage over that stretch, with 71 saves on 76 shots. Kochetkov has allowed two or fewer goals in six of his nine appearances this season, and in seven of his eight career wins. Saturday's game marked just his 10th career NHL/Hurricanes start, and his eight wins are the most in franchise history through any goaltender's first 10 career starts. Only six netminders in league history have posted nine wins through their first 10 starts, and only three this century: Martin Prusek (OTT, 2002-03), Viktor Fasth (ANA, 2013) and Igor Shesterkin (NYR, 2020).

On A Run: Seth Jarvis extended his season-long point streak to five games in the win over the Kings, recording an assist on Sebastian Aho's second period goal. Martin Necas follows right behind him with at least one point in his last four outings.

On The Other Side: The Ducks have struggled to start their season, currently touting a league-low 15 points in the standings. They've the only theam in the NHL allowing an average of over four goals per game and only four teams have scored fewer goals than them. Their penalty kill sits last at just 65.6% and their power play ranks 30th at just a 16.0% success rate. The core of their roster remains very young, as Troy Terry (26) and Trevor Zegras (22) lead the team in points through 26 games.

      Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.

      I don't think Canales has any problem benching Bryce or moving on if Bryce doesn't come out playing like the end of last year.  It's year 3 no more excuses for Bryce

      Yea Bryce was definitely a top half qb the second half of last season but I'm not sure Canales is 100% sold on him.  Like I've said in another post I think that's part of why we talked to so many South Carolina players in the draft process.  I think they are doing early due diligence on Sellers just in case.
